Hey guys, Is there any need to use 65mg with a lite setup? Or is the karbonite more than enough?

Now that is funny!

After flying my Slick and Fatcat220's Edge, I would say IPS is dead on with his comparison.

The One!

The 47" Edge is the ONE! I love it! It Harriers sooooo stable. It also tumbles fast and well (though from what I've seen and read, the Slick is King). Most importantly, this plane instills confidence in its pilots. I flew six packs through the plane today and wished for more. This is definitely my favorite plane (with my 55" SHP a close second). I can't wait to fly it some more. Love it!

I got to fly Ken Elder's 40" Edge, a yes, it harriers sooooo easy. It's even easier than my SHP which has SFGs. I think the Slick might be just a touch better, but remember, I was flying th little one and it was windy.

I'm hoping to have my 47" Edge flying tomorrow, and we will try to have video. It's going together beautifully. I've already got the servo extentions heat shrink wrapped, the pull cables made, and servo arms finished, so it should slam together pretty quick once I get it back from Jim later tonight

I'm learning a lot hopping from the Slick to the Sukhoi to the SR to the little Edge to my SHP. Maybe I'll drag the Yak out later this week for some real diversity.

I'm using 65 Karbonites in my 47" Edge. I used the same type in my previous 47" Katana with no issues. Unless you're a tail touching mad man, I think that these will be great.

Well I decided to use karbonite on the ailerons , mg on the elevator, and rudder just to be safe. Thanks for your input. Doc i think you could strip titanium gears with the way you fly

The way you tail touch Doc, I don't even think that Astra Alloy gears, (If they were available for anything beyond armour plating), would be enough.

Well, no one ever said I treated my stuff gently.

Please check out my blog. So far I don't have much up except a brief introduction and my favorite SR video, but take a look anyway and maybe even click on the "follow" tab to keep up with the crazy stuff we are planning. If you are feeling especially generous, leave a nice comment.

Tomorrow we're hoping to fly the 3DHS 47" Edge 540, and instead of reporting here, it will be on the blog.

I'm going to try to put a 40" Edge 540 together too, so it will be fair comparison........or maybe not.

I think they re meant for two different things. Sure, they6 are dedicated 3D Plne, but the 47" is meant for those of us who have been flying th 47" SRs, SHPs, Velox, etc. We are used to these size planes, and most of us have an inventory of spare motor parts, spare servos, etc.

The 40" Extra is a brand new deal though. I think this plane I reaching out to a whole new audience...the park flier. Lots of guys who would never consider a 47 plane are proably chomping at the bit for a 40" Edge. It's the exact ame span as the Ultra Sticks and Mini Pulses that rule the park, but it will blow those planes away.

Of course, the 40" will be a nice diversion for us 47" pilots, and since I really like the guys at our local park I want to get back there and go flying with them again. I think the little Edge will fit in there quite nicely. I also think it will e much, much easier to fly in and out of the pak's tight confines that other park planes.

So, the 40 and 47" will certainly be a lot alike, but they will be different too. I guess the later is reason enough to have them both.

Here's the battery compartment. We put the Airboss 45 ESC on the outside of the motorbox, and that keeps all the wiring out of the compartmet where you could snag it changing out the battery.

Here's the receiver installation. We put the receiver under he pull cables on the supplied bulkhead. We ran a popsickle stick to bridge the formers, and that made a nice support.

The ailerons were a pretty simpe hook up. I know that doesn't look like a lot of throw, but I used the AJ setup tool to measure it, and I've got a full 30 degrees.

The elevator setup wasn't very complex either.

OK you've convinced me. I've placed my order with ADC (I'm now a decal junkie too) for a green 40" Edge.

Yeah, Rob and I have a secret project planned that's going to be pretty cool. Right now it's just a matter of funding, but we hope to get it started soon.
