rotor speed bleed-off

Just wondering if anyone has any insight on my problem
when the heli is just ready to lift off the rotor speed bleed's off at the
same time the engine is not racing(clutch slippage) ?it keep's running fine
maybe a little lag

could the engine be too rich? if it was lean it should cut out......ran and
flew excellent before this happened???

What machine? engine?

The XCell SE had a problem with the one-way bearing slipping in its housing.
RPM went up a bit when this happened, but not screaming like a blown clutch
would cause.

Sounds to me like the engine is just over-rich and therefore can't cope with
the increased load of applying flying pitch. I suggest you lean it out some
and check again.

Also check the pitch of the blades throughout the range.
A large ATV at the bottom end and small at the top or vice versa, or a trim
setting on some radios that affects only one half of the travel, could
introduce a pitch curve that is not what you would expect.

Also I might note it is cold outside!...can it be to lean
due to the air density?
