Put another four great flights on her this morning. The retracts are handling the strip easily!

I did have a little issue with the nose gear alternately not locking or, when locked, not retracting (discovered during pre-flight). After I eased off the steering cable tension a tad, the problem went away.

The Hornet has just earned its decals

Cheers,

Dan.

Looking forward to seeing it with its decals, Dan

I am waiting on parts for mine, so I'm going to attempt to do a bit of changing to the camoflage on mine with my just received new airbrush. Right now, I'm filling in some of the cracks and divots from damages received during the deadstick landings/crashes. I'll attempt to purrty the plane up a bit, and disguise the scars with some blue camo overtop of the stock grey. I'm also trying to do a better job with the way I filled in the stock area of the wheel recess's, after I changed the retracts. Missiles and bombs are painted too, and I'll put them on it when I get my new esc installed.

I coated the missiles with epoxy. So much more durable to minor handling knocks now.

Finished the body stripes and first coat of gloss clear. Decals and final clear coat next, then she's done!

Thanks! Just printed the decals. Only home-made waterslide ones on my inkjet, so I hope they work out OK. Colour-matching and sizing might not be perfect, but as I said, it's only got to be a reasonable facsimilie and recognisable from a distance.

I just need to be patient and wait for the paint to cure, so expect pics of the finished product by next weekend.

Cheers,

Dan.

Well, impatience got the better of me, so I put the decals on.

Not exactly scale, but good enough for 'government work'
