Control throw measurement

The measured control surface throw is dependent on the measurement location along the control surface edge, if the outer edge is not parallel to the hinge line. This is the case on my Switchback-Sport. For example, I get upwards of 1/4" difference depending on where I measure the rudder throw. I don't want to mess this up and get high rates when I wanted low.

Where should control surfaces be measured for throw? Is it at the inside, out at the far tip, or half way between the inside & tip?

Best Regards, ToddO

I've always measured mine from the widest part of the surface being deflected. The instructions from a couple planes I've built specifically stated when setting up control throws to measure from the widest part. Has always worked for me.
