Keep me on your list. I'd love to get more info on the Mossie as well as purchase some of your CD/DVDs on the 36 when they become available. You may want to check with your fellow and explore the options for bringing some of them to SEFF and having CD/DVDs available for purchase at that venue.

this thread is like a roller coaster ride of on-topic/off-topic discussions.

I'll be glad when dag can get back to building.

Sorry I have been MIA.

Work has me slammed, and family has been needing my aerospace thinking. My girl is in the science fair. Her hypothesis that using the same amount of baking soda and varying the vinegar will make her rocket travel different heights. We are using 1 liter bottles.

The B36- the leading edge is done on both wings, and the planking is on to make my intakes. I do have some pics but need to get them cooked to post.

I am really hoping to get the intakes done this weekend.

Sorry, but every time I get slow the thread does go a bit crazy....

Thanks, Damon!!!!

Streaming video?

They have streaming video to watch eagles and owls hatch - how about a streaming Dag build? Might keep him from feeling the need to post some more time intensive videos, etc. Just a link on this thread so we can see it break out of the shell - as long as Dag doesn't forget and come out to build in some inappropriate attire....

Emma, My daughter has been after me to make her a baking soda rocket. What was the result of your experiments?

If you had the lift capacity available could you use it like a RATO?

Dag, I have been quitely watching your build for a long time and it never ceases to amaze me the size of your plane. Today I was lucky enough to stop in the Wright-Patterson Museum and got to see a B-36 up close. Now I understand why your model is so big, that plane is HUGE!!!!!. I kept looking at the plane's details and thinking of yours and saying to myself "yep, that's how Dag's looks like".

Hey all,

Been a very busy week with work. Nothing done on the B-36. I hope tomorrow to get more done on the intakes and get some sanding done so I can glass the nacelles. Also I got my Castle Creations ICE2 HV 80 ESC to test. I hope to post that on Sunday.

I did get a bit done late at night on my Mossi design.

All my new design/build threads will be on my blog page so if I want to delete silly stuff.

Thanks all,
DAG

When I was 8-10 was the first time I saw the 36 a WP. I was just shocked with its size. I then went about every 2 years and stopped going when I was about 17. Then around 20 I took a girl friend over and that is when I thought of a RC version, up until then I had flown control line. I still try to go over at least once a year. My son and I when he was younger would go 2-3 times a year. I love air museums.

I know I have a few things not 100% scale, my nacelles are about 5% bigger than they should be, but I think she will still look cool just sitting there as a complete aircraft soon... I just can't wait until the first time I taxi it on her own legs.

Thanks!!!!!

Finishing up the rockets these weekend, then next weekend is the 4 launches that we will get our data from to prove her theories.

Thanks!!

The only people who would notice are those with a digital caliper and scale drawing in their pocket.... and who need to get out more!

Oh, and you of course!!! Don't sweat it, is my view.

Hey DAG,

I've been following this thread for a while and thought you might enjoy this video if you haven't seen it already. Pretty awesome for electric.

Make sure that you document the whole process from beginning to end. Lots of videos would be great.....

BTW, the "drift" here keeps us all entertained while you're off "getting slammed". I will admit that things can slide off the rails quite rapidly sometimes.

BTW2, re the nacelles, 5% deviation from true scale, which begs the question: is this stand-off or are you going to enter it in FAI Scale? If not FAI, then do it to satisfy yourself and to make it work as this is well within the limits of variance permitted by the rules. Yes, yes, I know, you're like everything to be perfect. From what everyone can see, if it isn't bang-on then you've a very valid reason why not.

The only fly in the ointment might be if there's a B-36 specialist doing the judging if you decide to compete with the plane. Sort of like the stories that I've heard about a Piper Cub historian nailing everyone for "lack of scale detail" and other infractions because he was using his own knowledge and experience rather than following what the scale rules say on how to judge.
