Hey Dag, have you figured out how long it will take to get all systems up and do the preflight checks at the field? Even pressurizing the air tanks before you go out, just checking everything over, I would guess will take some time!

Well things are slow going. The air systems are taking a bunch of time. I really wish I could get back to sheeting, that goes so much faster.

Yesterday I got my new air valve control panel cut out, built, and painted. If all goes well I will have this in the plane and being tested by Wednesday.

Dag, I fear that you will find that finishing this huge model is going to be similar to doing finish work on a new house. It takes much more time than it seems like it should. Keep up the good work. Like everyone else, I am patiently waiting to see the finished product but it is also great watching it all come together. I'm afraid that when its finished, it will be something of a 'let-down' because we will lose the 'suspense' of waiting for the next installment.

Seeing this beast take to the air for the first time (even in a video some hours or days later) will be magical and thrilling. Certainly not a 'let-down'. I've been wondering how 'finished' it'll be when it first flies. I'm always torn between damaging a model before it's even finished by test flying, vs risking even more work being damaged on a 'maiden' of a finished model.

I assume all the air tanks will be pressurized to the same pressure? I'd make a little manifold (that stays with the pump) making it possible to connect all the air tanks up to the pump simultaneously. They will all maintain the exact same pressure as they are being pumped up. You would have to have on/off valves (or check valves) on each of the manifold lines so that no air would leak out as you're disconnecting the manifold from the schrader valves on the plane. What would be even cooler would be to have an automatic cutoff on the pump when the target pressure was reached. Also, being all connected together while pressurizing would be a good way to calibrate the pressure gauges of each of the separate systems. You'd instantly know if one of the gauges was off by some signifigant amount. If the gauge itself could not be physically calibrated, you could make a tiny placard noting that gauge's deviation from true.

Attached is my checklist for flight, I have one for assembly/disassemble and maintenance.

Attached is a work in progress and I have not had much time to really get it right. Slammed with work and taking a lunch break.
