too true! the engine casings are formed from a magnesium rich alloy. And yes, it burns well if the fuel lead comes detached from the carb (dont ask me how I know.

I think the look of the test panels is fan-fricken-tastic.

Thanks Tom.
I really think it will look great, it is just the time it takes to apply it correct. I have something like 35,000 square inches to cover.

My steps for putting it on may look like this
1. Make sure FG is sanded smooth with 600 SP
2. Then apply the tape/foil
3. Apply all panel lines rivets.
4. Mask off all tape/foil that will stay the Aluminum look.
5. 400 SP all the tape/foil that will look like Mag
6. Remove masking areas and buff out the rest of the Aluminum.

I think it will take a month to do all of this.

Thanks, DAG

Hey Jeff,
The test foil I got from MacMaster Carr. It is used for sealing HVAC.

I will be using:
http://www.thetapedepot.com/cart/com...mart/Itemid,1/

It is .0012, verses the .0025 from MacMaster Carr.

The Flightmetal stuff that is on the market is .0015, and something like 10 times the $$$$$ I will be paying.

You also have a great X-max and new year, and if your like most my mates over there, have a pint or 3.

Cheers,
DAG

Yeah DAG, that Flitemetal stuff tho' I'm sure is excellent, it is expensive!

A few years back when I was knocking out the odd plastic scale model I used a brilliant adhesive alu' foil made by 'Sellotape,' very thin, light, and looked the part, though it did'nt like going around curves. Your method is the same as I used.

I can't locate it anymore, but as it only came in fairly small rolls, I do'nt think it would be cost effective for the B.36 to say the least.

I obtained it then thru motor factors!

Thanks for the link to the tape depot.

Yes I will have a pint or two!!

Quick question:
Are the batteries that are in the nose flight batteries or are they for Rx power?

RX batteries.
I wish I could put flight packs in the nose but can't as the ESC would go boom!

Thanks, DAG

DAG, your skin treatment looks amazing. What a wonderful finish that is going to give. One question I have is what effect that will have on your reception. Will you run external antennas? Is it even necessary (I would guess yes but I'm not an EE).

Merry Christmas and keep the updates rolling!

Carl
