Hey all!!!

back about 10,000 post or so was info about a guy that does really cool high power engine sound systems. I actually reached out to him but because (at that time) I needed to stay under 100 pounds I scraped the sound system idea.

I now need to find this guy again and can't seem to find the post.

Any ideas????

Thanks, DAG

This guy was a inventor type that messed with some sound system here in the states. I called him and he was really a cool guy.

I think he was out west like AZ or somewhere.....

Thanks, DAG

Basically what I need is just the sound system with audio out as I am going to use this for my Emmaselle II and uses a car 400 watt amp and four 5" drivers.......

A few suggestions were tossed around between post's 3438 - 3443 for sound generators.

There is this guy... "MrRCSound" that has been advertising in the banners at the top of RCG, but I don't know if one of his would be enough....

I am playing with adding sound to the 36 now that the AMA max is 125 pounds, but I also want to add sound to the Emmaselle II. I will need about 6 pounds of nose weight and a car stereo with 4 drivers, 400 watt, and 12 volts of Lipos will be just about right, and very loud... I just need the sound generator. And now that I have been thinking about it I believe the guy here in the US was a guy that someone PM'ed me his info. A real cool guy that made up his own sound systems for RC planes.

I know you are playing but for those that may not think you are, gas would never sound as good as the really engine sounds you get out of a sound generator, plus you can't build light like I do and have a earthquake shaking gas engine on a light airframe.

You may have talked to me at some time. I'm not sure, getting old !

I do build some custom sound systems for replica cars like batmobiles, knight rider KITT cars, etc. I also sell a complete system with speakers for 50 size models or bigger. These are custom built units, with 2 sounds onboard. Check out my youtube page at:

http://www.youtube.com/user/reddogsr1/videos?view=0

The turbine sounds are awesome! The difference between what I custom build and what's out there that's mass-produced is the realistic sound from idle to full throttle and the acceleration and deceleration response that mimics a real engine. There are absolutely no stepping noises as you increase the RPM's either. Here are some videos of one of my systems.

Corsair Flight #2 with sound (6 min 51 sec)

Corsair sound test #3.wmv (6 min 5 sec)

Hanger 9 P51 Mustang (6 min 27 sec)

The speaker enclosures on the P51 were kind of small. Should be louder after he makes them bigger....Still sounds great...
If you are interested, I can email you a brochure. I am building them as fast as I can, I put the effort into a quality unit that sounds great.

Impressive redfog.

So without giving away any secrets, what is the basic mechanism? Is it a DSP based design? Does it used sampled real engine sounds or is it purely synthetic?

Do you simulate the sound based on the number of engine cylinders (iirc it's 28 for the B36)?

Would you need six separate systems for six engines or could a single unit simulate multiple engines?

Does the system take a parallel signal from the throttle channel or a tacho signal from the engine?

How the questions are ok, just curious to understand how it works
