Yep!
A complete wing was made and then destroyed to test my design. The wing will work. The attachment points are a bit of a place to watch as they are designed for about 5-6 G's, so in flight i will be fine, but a really bad landing might hurt it.

im not concerned with the design, it looks reinforced.
more about the materials used, i hope they are strong/stiff enough.
im sure this was discussed in the 600+ page thread....lol

Here is the test of just the spars. Actually I used sand bags and bricks.

The wing is made of balsa spars with pre-preg carbon fiber. The tensile test went to over 300 pounds per spar.

Believe me, there is not one part of this plane that Dag has not thoroughly researched and if he found "anything" he didn't like it was redone, or will be redone. Dag is VERY thorough!! Which is why I have no doubt that when this plane finally flies, it will be perfect!!

Of course, humble as he is, DAG forgot to mention that this is the strength of the internal structure only, on top of that you have the balsa sheathing and the epoxy / fiberglass cloth to add strength!!!

When I designed the wing I look at where the strength really needs to be, then I design for that. The wing my kinds are sitting on was version 2, and was way to strong for the loads it would see. My wing version 4 is where I am at, the weakest points are where the landing gear is attached, and where the wing attaches to the in-board wing, but all are still strong enough for my designed flight needs (I hope). To build a plane this big under 100 pounds is really the biggest challenge, on my other thread my Emmaselle II will be about 45 pounds with a 160" wing.

My son weighs 112 pounds in that photo. Those spars where way to strong, and the wing section only weight 2.1 pounds.

Do the "X"s on the shear webs exist on the newer design? I don't remember noticing those before. I assume that is a strip of carbon tow?

The "X's" were on my earlier design, way over-kill, not on my wing that will be part of the final airframe.

They were CF tow, and added unreal strength. I have leaned so much this past 3 years in applying my theories to my designs. Most RC planes are so over built. But many need to be because of hard landings, that is what breaking most RC planes, at least IMHO.
