Between work and his family (kids are very time consuming) I'm surprised he gets as much as he does. He has more drive than I ever had. Mike

If you get it airworthy in time, you could just strap yourself on and ride that son of a gun to SEFF

Well I got all 6 firewalls installed and CF on, I also have all 6 motor mounts installed. The left wing CF is now laminated to the spars.

I also just finished my main CF spars that are made up of 6 1" CF tubes attached to make up 2 pair 108". Each spar is 3 36" tubes epoxied together. Making these spars was a critical step as they had to have machined inserts made perfect to keep the entire tube straight.

I got a ton done today, I decided to take today and tomorrow off as vacation days.

Hi Dag !
Looking good my friend!
As far as your pilots in the cockpit, you need to find one that looks like Jimmy Stewart, and the other that looks like Frank Morgan! LOL!
Enjoy your vacation day!

The spars turned out perfect. The next step will be getting them aligned in the wing tubes. The is going to be the most critical process on this entire project. The center section of the wing will have to be jigged perfect, then the 2 outboard wing section will also have to be jigged perfect,t with a 3" opening between them, then all of the wing tubes will be aligned with the tube spars in place. If all lines up correct I then epoxy the wing tubes in place and pray I got it all straight.

Once all weighed up my 2 tube spars and 6 wing spars came in at 3 pounds 8 ounces, that is 8 ounces less than I had calculate. I had weighed each spar and shear web as I built the wing.

I still can't quite get how BIG this plane is. I see you daughter holding those spars, they're huge, then they're laid atop the wing, and they look small! This plane is going to be amazing.

DAG, have you ever considered building a full size kit plane? From what I see, you already have the skills.

Hey Dag, gotta say we're all lucky that you're documenting your entire build here. Without that, I doubt most of us would have the chance to experience such an awesome plane and build, even if only via the net. This thread is exciting, inspiring, and informative. Kudos and thanks!
