Art Hobby Skua 1.5M


Is there someone having experience with the new Art Hobby Skua 1.5M?

Any replies about how this plane is would be appreciated.

No experiences with the Art Hobby Skua 1.5M, so I bought and made one myself, done with flaps and 6 servos full house glider.

Waiting for spring to let it free. Approx. 500 grams.

Sucsessful first flight, love this model, strongly recommended.

Extremely light when needed, extremely fun with 170 grams of lead!

Nice model,

Maybe this is the one to build for my girlfriend to try F3F, without the great cost involved..

Update: I`ve just ordered one... It wil be made with two piece wings and V-tail to ease traveling.

I loved mine......both of them! The first one flew great but after chucking it off the second time without turning battery on, it flew big circles for about 10 minutes until lost of lift. On the way home I ordered another one from Andre! 2nd one got knock down by a friend turning on the same frequency.
Incredible light air Sloper and then handles wind just as well when it picks up.

Might just order the 3rd after just watching this vid

How to?


Any sugestions how to make ballast on the Skua? It must be possible to remove when not needed . Not so much space in that plane...

Put a tube under the mid-center of wing section, feeding the ballast throght the opening in fuelage that already is there.

And make a top opening in ballast tube a tad bigger than one slug.

When flying, seal the opening with a tape, and the wiring as well will contibute keeping slug in place.

It will be tight with wiring.

Hope this helps, never had any issues with ballast arrangement this way.

The slugs are 11,5 mm diameter, the ballast tube might be 13mm,
each slug 22mm lenght, and 4 slugs give 170 grams of ballast.

Considering buying one of these, they look great. Few questions though:

1) Once built, is it a 2 piece wing?

2) Does it come out with flaps or did you do that yourself? Worth adding?

3) How strong are those wings and tail?

It's a one piece wing.

Flap can be added easy enough but out of the box it's flapless.

Strong?

I'd say it's strong enough for its design intention. Since it's a V tail the tail is out of harms way.

It flies fabulously built as is.

Ask me how I know.........had three over the years..

I agree its a superb model
Flies like its on rails from fairly light winds to much heavier than you expect
The one piece wing isnt a problem, stands in a corner while storing or fits behind a car sear while transporting
I land in long grass/bracken and ive never had a problem

Get one you wont be dissappnted
