Need help with parts for TM

Well, I finally decided to get a Tiger Moth after reading about 1000,000,000 posts about them. They look fun. I fly Slope quite a bit, but have no micro gear, so I'm wondering if you guys could recommend some electronics for me.....
-Servos? I have two HS-55s, will they work or are they too big??
-Rx? Should I just go with the GWS R4-P? Is a Hitec 555 too big?
-I have a 15amp ESC, too big? If so, what should I get a 5amp?
-I'm DEFINITELY going with Li-ion batteries, so can anyone recommend a good source to buy a couple pre-made packs and charger?
-Motor....? I have no idea what I need or where to get it.

Thanks,
Scott

I think the hs-55's are OK, but would go with the pico or naro RX. 15amp may be overkill, but don't drop to a 2 amp if the 15 amp doesn't work out (weight wise) go with the 5 amp as it can be used in others. Motor comes with the kit so stay stock to start out with then you can go brushless later if you think you need to....

The 55 servos are perfect, either of the receivers you mentioned will work fine, although remove the case on the 555 it will save some weight. The Li Ion batteries try lightflightrc.com fast service and they have everything you will need. Good Luck!

tenover,

1, I use the HS-55 in my TM and they work great
2, The GWS R4-P is good too (for me....I live out in the woods )
I also have the Hitec feather Rx, that one gets "hits"
3, I agree with TJSlayer, The 5 amp is better (after all....who can
stop with just one plane )
4, Another good place to get the li-poly's is here
http://www.b-p-p.com/index.html I've got a few packs from
them......very fast service
5, The kit comes with a motor......but soon you'll want better, I've
used the IPSD and the EPS100C with good results, I hear
M100 is good as well

HAVE FUN

Well guys, after going to the MWE today, I just HAD to stop by the LHS and pick up my TM. Here's what I got:
-GWS Tiger Moth
-(2) Cirrus 9 servos
-(1) Berg 4 "Micro Stamp" Rx
-(1) GWS 5amp ESC
I also picked up (At the show) a 2-cell, 850mah Li-ion battery with a Qualcomm charger. The guys there were saying to expect 30-40 minute flight times with that battery on the TM....Here's a shot I took today of a REAL nice TM, alittle more "scale" I'd say.

I know what you mean. It seems to have a cult-like following on this board, which I love....So many mods and cool stuff to do with them. I just got back from the beer store. I think I might find out if one of these can be built in one night

Beer Store

Tenover:

Lol! Yeah, the beer store stop will help when you try to figure out the GWS directions!

Someone here allegedly put an entire 'Moth together in something like 2-3hours. First time 'Moth builder, as well.

It sounds like you picked up the right parts for success! Let us know how it works out.

PS: Very cool Tiger Moth images.

The great thing about the TM is that you can still fly it after youve been drinking all night!

TM

I did it! I tried posting yesterday, but Ezone was down. Stayed up until 1:30am building the TM and finished it. Did a ROG down my street first thing yesterday morning and she flew perfectly. No trim needed, no CG problems, nothing! I love this little plane. I even did a few mods that night like adding little sides to the cockpits, drawing up little instrument panels (Before I found out you could download realistic looking ones), did the "wood" propeller mod, and added my daughter as a pilot. Here's a few pics.
