Extreme Flight 25% 78" Extra 300 *VIDEO ADDED!!!*

I saw on the Extreme Flight website that they are coming out with a 78" version of their Extra 300. I have tried to find pictures, but I've come up empty. Does anybody have any more info on this aircraft?

Thanks for the heads up, I'll look through a few SEFF photo threads. I had read that it was at Joe Nall, but couldn't find any photos.

Does anyone know what the color scheme is? The one at SEFF was the same scheme as the blue 45" Extra 300. Really a great looking plane!!

I spoke with Chris before he left for China and he told me that the Electric Only Airframe weight will be 5.5 lbs! It may be possible to 3D the Extra on 6s, that would be really cool.

Thanks for the info on the one at SEFF. I haven't been able to find any pictures, but now I know that it looks just like my little one. Sounds like that won't be the final scheme anyways.

5.5lbs! Sweet! I think I'm going to go with an OS 1.60 on this one (I know, I know), just because I have one ready to go. I hope that the glow version isn't a whole bunch heavier. I have an Ultra RC Katana with an OS 1.60 that came in just under 10lbs and it's a rocket.

That must be airframe only. No way its 5.5 lbs AUW at 78" span. Has to be between 10.5 and 12.5 lbs - 10s lipo

Picture from the SEFF 08, taken by MLT

Here's a picture MLT took at the 2008 SEFF.
That's the 58" Extra in the back and the 74" Yak and then the 78" Extra.

Sweet! Thanks for the picture! Looks good, but I hope that it gets some of those sexy gear to fuse fairings like the other Extra's.

I see that the wings mount flush to the fuselage rather than into it like the Yak. I prefer the old way. I would guess that the stabs are no longer removable either. Opening for the wing tube looks smaller than the Yak's as well. I assume all are weight saving measures. I am keeping my eye on this as a home for my Yak's gear when it's time is up. Could always do an e conversion on the glow version I suppose.

Since someone mentioned 2 airframes - an electric and a glow version - I thought that you were referring to (Electric Only) Airframe as opposed to Electric (Only Airframe) weight. My mistake.

OK - so once you add gear how could you 3D on 6s? You would need AUW to be 6.5 lbs for that. I suppose you could run 6s at 100 amps and get 2200 watts.

Just like this using a 6s pack, AXI 5320/18 and 20x8 Prop.
