3D Hobby Shop 57" Sukhoi

This is a video of the production 57" Sukhoi 26mx from 3D Hobby Shop. It features the Reaper GR60 brushless motor on 5S making just over 1200 watts. The airplane weighs 5 lbs, 4 oz. as equipped in the video. The video is 100% 3D flight, and shows the airplane flying with no rock in upright and inverted harrier, very predictable rolling harriers, and stable torque roll. The entire 4+ minutes of video is a from a single flight, but you can expect 7-8 minutes of flying on a 5S 3700 LiPo.

Specs are as follows:

Weight 84 oz.
GR 60 brushless motor
AB 80 Elite ESC
(5) Hitec 5245 or 225MG
AR7000

I'm really impressed with by the GR60. It is designed to be a 4S motor with a kV of 900, so I'm really pushing it on 5S. At my altitude, that allows a 15x6 or 15x7 (14x6-14x7 at a lower altitude). Scott from Reaper motors has a 600kv version coming, and it should be ideal for the lower altitude locales. As you can see, the power system provides foamy like punchout for this 5+ pound model, which is really impressive at my altitude (5500 feet MSL). It also has the coolest sound - almost like a turbine in pitch. I couldn't be happier with the system. Really great performance.

On the airframe, Ben and I worked long and hard to make this the best Sukhoi on the market, and I think we exceeded both of our expectations. Most Sukhoi models rock something fierce in upright harrier, but our airfoils, moments, and wing/stab positions basically eliminate the rock while keeping the aesthetics very close to scale. Also notice the rapid pitch rates, both upright and inverted. Again, best in class on both.

Scott

BTW, I'm still working on the rendering to get the quality a little higher. As I make improvements, I'll upload it then remove the initial file.

<edit> Figured out what I was doing wrong. This version should clearer and widescreen...

Coupling is pretty minimal with this Suk, I think just a touch of rudder to elev if I recall correctly.
