Watercat 1300 Patrol PV06E twin jet-drive 1:10 scale

Hi & greetings from Nordic!

Here is our new project, for me it is first scratch-built also,
scale model of of new Finnish Frontier Guard patrol boat,
PV06E, or commercially now named Watercat 1300 Patrol.

It is scale 1:10, length 146cm, construction is conventional plywood,
fiberglassed surface.

We have 2 of them under construction,Olli is working on nr 1 wich is equipped with CY 26ccm gasoline
single jet-drive, mine is having twin outrunner 10-pole Flyware motors.

Both of them are having 40mm Kehrer Power Jet propulsions

Best regards,

Hannu

Looking good Hannu. Seems to be a very fast patrol boat and I wonder where it is used? Good looking models and I love that Riva??? in the background. How does that run? Keep the pictures coming and especially of how you install the motors and propullsion units. Pete

Hi,

Thanks , Norgale.

A few more shots on projects. We have now made just only 2 runs
wit nr. 2 -electric one, CY gasolinie one has been several times on trial run,
they look to be very fast. I am still using original Castoldi -style propulsion, Olli modified his jet differently. Castoldi has a drawback, turning capability is
rather weak, so we are intend to modify my jets also, to be changed from rudder-style to turning -pipe style steering.

In related to that, does anyone happen to know, how much outer tunnel
can be conical shape compared to start point of tunnelpipe?

If I remember correctly, flow is doubled when area is lowered by 30%, is this correct? We try to make as small as possible the outer pipe, to get more space for reversing bucket, wich is very limited due quite low
swimming platform position.

WOW! Nice work shop. It's nice to have some space for these projects. Looking good and yes trial and error will get the problems worked out. Just takes a little time. Looking forward to seeing these two boats in the water. Pete

Hi,

Here is some pics about motor installation.

As it is 10-pole outrunner equipped, only way to cool motor,
is have a motor mount watercooled, wich has been proven working very well
also in my 67" Riva, with similar T-REX 40-700 motors.

Shaft coupler is flex-style, 6mm thickness, now having a support
brass tube in center

Water collection is from inside jet, in position of impeller,
it seem delivering quite high pressure.

For ESCīs it is same circulation as motor.

Nice looking Hannu. How does the flex shaft work? Could you show how it goes together? I havn't seen that before and it looks very adaptable to just about any boat. Better than the normal "U" joint coupling. Pete

Hi,

This is a bit similar one like used in gasoline boats,
in motor side flex shaft it is "loosen", ie it sits in square hole.
It is tailor-made for this application, by some older experience
in high-power set-ups it is very robust, normal couplers can not handle
those power levels. Drawback in this style is flexcoupler is, that reverse can be used only in low power., as flex can "unwind".

Unfortunately I dont have now photo of it , while coupler is opened.

2 more shots of watercooled motormount

Hi,

Thanks, Keith!

And some more pics, now on fast run..

We had Garmin GPS onboard, it was showing 44.5km/h (24knots)
for eletric one, gasoline powered single-jet was getting 36.8 km/h (19.9knots)

So, it was much faster than could think, accelarion is more like looking rabbit jumping from bush.. my original intended motor was to use
hotter T-REX 40-700kv, but that is maybe bad overkill for this piece,
lower 500kv seems to be doing more than well.

Static power was measured, stating only 47amps, giving with 42V/10S Polyquest
PQ6000mAh packs approximately 1.7KW / motor, so all up power onboard
was around 3.4KW/4.66hp
