Mountain Models general banter thread

Hey Everyone!

So yeah... this is the post I never wanted to make, but here it goes:

I completed my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, graduating Summa Cum Laude from UW Platteville in May, and accepted a full time engineering position in the Fox Valley area. I started there in June and have been getting re-acquainted with the whole working for someone thing. It's a great company and I am enjoying the work very much.

I decided to pull back in how much I do, so I can once again spend more time with my children, start flying the real things again, build a real airplane, and take some time to "relax" and enjoy life more. So, Mountain Models is now for sale.

If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be interested in the business, drop me an email.

I am going to start reducing accessory inventory, so a lot of miscellaneous parts, motors, ESC's, props, etc. are on sale right now.

The last 13 years have been an amazing adventure! I have traveled the country, met some amazing people, made some good friends, and will miss all of you.

Thank you all,
Brian Eberwein

OK, since every single thread I start about a product gets cluttered with:

What's the next one?
What about this one?
Where's XYZ?

Here's a thread for all you guys to bug me in, without cluttering up other threads.

I'll continue to update this post as time goes by to keep things current.

Plans are done.
Parts will be cut this weekend.
Instructions are being worked on.
Pricing is being worked on.

So, the Lucky ACE will be released at NEAT.

I may or may not have it on the web site before NEAT. If I do put it up before NEAT, orders won't ship until after the show, and will be processed in the order received.

Good idea Brian..

..about future products being suggested here...you've already done a great job with the Switchback Senior, now I've heard talk of an upsized ACE...hmmm,I was wondering what other MM product would we like to see offered in a Senior size..?I was thinking a bigger MINIFLASH..!!

It seems that there is a real scarcity of low-wing sport scale flyers in the 44"-50" wing span range, i.e. brushless 480 size for a 3S1P 2100 lipo battery pack. Close in size is your SB Senior (that I already have), but I think that e.g., a 48" Spacewalker, Druine Turbulent or Bowers FlyBaby would be a real hit. What do you think Brian? How about the rest of you?

A 60" C-130 would be nice. With flaps, retracts and operating cargo ramps. Maybe a Super Connie. Hey, as long as I'm dreaming I might as well dream big!

Obviously I'm a "Minus Member"

Let's see: a ..30-.40 size P-51, based on the current kit, an ACE150, a ducted fan model (preferably something scale, like the FanTrainer), a 44-50" pattern plane (Flashback150), a couple of indoor sized models, some more "sorta scale" EZ's, and a couple of twins (a B-25 and at least one civil aviation twin). A scale bipe would be fun to have as well. After those, I guess it's whatever else Brian wants to design.

I think that covers my general banter for the night............

Flashback150 ?!?!?! I'd be really, really tempted to get one of those. I love the smaller one. Now, where are those retracts I had laying around?

Unfortunately, a C-130 and Connie aren't on my list. Honestly, I think it would be a LOT more work than most kits, and sales just wouldn't justify it.

The Urban Flyer probably won't come back in any size.

Now for positives:
Different sized ACE's are in the works
A Flashback 150 or similar larger pattern plane is on the list.
A larger P-51 is on the list
A Ducted Fan model is on the list (Something I started over 10 years ago!)
More EZ's are planned
SwitchBack Jr is under consideration
Low Wing sport flyers are planned. (1 might even be partially built )
