I tried to defend the guy and asked everyone to be civil and give him a chance. I pointed out what he did (cross posting) incorrectly which he corrected.

His daughter sent me a PM thanking me for standing up for her father. She explained that he was new to soldering and the hobby, designed this device to help himself with soldering connectors and was happy with the results and thought he could sell them at a small profit and help the RC community, which decided to turn on him and make him out to be a villain for doing so.

The following show we mentioned the product and their URL, and they got some good business from our plug. I made a point to mention them due to the treatment they had received here. Shortly following that, they sent me a freebie of the product so I could test it out and as a thanks for my support.

I found the product to work very well. And I got a very early version that doesn't have holes for larger bullets. I might have to get a new one since I need to use vice grips for my 6mm bullets on my larger setups. I think you guys will be happy with it. The only drawback I found is the fact the metal works as a heatsink, so larger connectors are sometimes difficult to get hot enough to get the solder flowing, but the upside to that is once you are done the solder cools FAST and sets quickly.

Hey Diggs I just ordered one and this is a reply I got from him.

"The Jigs Up that you will receive
will be a new version that has a heat resistant phenolic resin insert
where the bullet connectors go."

Can't wait to try it out.

It looks like a bit of an improvement... the original doesn't have the bullet connector holders in sets of 3.

This is my order placed Friday night. I paid over three times the declared value.

Someone mentioned that HK doesn't pretend to sell high quality merch, but I take issue with that. I think they do try to over-sell their products. Consider that it's common for people to get servos and batteries that are DOA. They consider that an acceptable standard. I call it selling trash.

I take my chances on some items, but I have a very low opinion of their operation.

Here is the kicker- My local hobby shop orders stock from HK. I like the shop and the owner, but when he does this, he nullifies all my rational for buying from him vs HK.

I'm tired of thinking about the morality of HK.
They are just trying to maximize their profits.. They get hit with import/export fees pretty hard. In some dealings with China, I've had lots of guys ask me to undervalue goods sent to China to prevent fees..

I really wish we could get some of the manufacturing back into this country.

Looks like union busting is the agenda though. See the Wisconsin news from today.
