Dufresne build log

I bought my first kit from Harbor models, The Dufresne is a 63 foot pleasure craft from New Zealand. I am new to kits, so I asked for help from a club member, WOODYBOB. (Thanks W.B.)

It is coming along nicely and have a few pics of the progress.
Any positive comments are helpful..

Looks like a neat boat!

Did you offset the rudders so you could remove the propshafts without having to remove the rudders?

Yes, Good eye. That is a factory change they made at Deans. We had to E-mail them and ask why.

I read the kit description on Harbor's site... the 1:1 designer Giles has a lot of great boats in his portfolio-

Hee hee, I might be inclined to change the name of the boat though!

Thanks Guys,
Some of the parts we're using are after market, Robbe propshafts
brass props and such so they are great. The originals fit well just not the best quality. One shaft that came with the kit didn't spin freely so they were replaced.

Looks like a nice build. The boat is distinctive. Changing out the inferior parts is a good call. The extra expense will save headaches and disappointment later on. Keep the pictures coming.

Thanks, more pics to come.
It might take a month or two before she's ready for the maiden voyage.

Thanks but I haven't done much so far. I am prepping some white metal parts now, doing the details of the external pilothouse soon and the electronics when the time comes. WoodyBob. is showing me how it's done with the rest. I just thought I would share.
I do plan on making a springer by myself real soon.

I'm sure the process and the result will be very satisfying for you! Great to have a local mentor like Woodybob!
