Guanli PBY Catalina

Guanli Catalina on its second flight taking off from the water after a minor mishap causing a water loop on a fairly windy day.
The maiden flight was from the water as well but I did not film this but the conditions were much better with less wind resulting in a trouble free takeoff.
These are very good value and the RTF version makes sense as you do not need to risk damaging more expensive radio in the water.

Nice video but that junk in the middle of the screen really makes it hard to view. What mode does your camera record in?

I have the original recording from the camera but as it was 50Mb I thought it might be too big. I will put it up anyway as I agree that the watermark is horrible. I might also find another compresion program.

The wind was rather high but I dont really have enough time to wait for the good conditions. I wanted to get some video and was therefore taking a few risks. Luckily when I did the maiden (also of the water), conditions were almost perfect.

I have put up the video without the watermark now.
Name changed to Guanli. Hopefully less wind tomorrow before work.

that would be a fantastic plane for a twin tower pro 2408-21 with two 8x4 props

colbourne, do u know where your centre of gravity is?

The centre of gravity is about 55mm back from the front of the wing on mine.
It is not very sensitive so there would be no problem. It does not really need any more power ,because it flies similar to the full size one as it is. I had a couple of flights this morning before work and with no wind it was nice to fly really slow skimming just above the water. On take off I am trying to drag it out as long as possible as that it is the best bit. Just have to be careful to keep the wings level as one tip float in the water could be disastorous.
It might be best to replace them with hull mounted sponsons if you are not worried about looks.

Landings work best with a bit of power otherwise it bounces.

It seems that United Hobbies has added this plane to their product list today.
