GPS Data compression in Data Recorder

Earlier I had read in one of the threads that the updated versions of the Data Recorder firmware will use data compression for GPS data to enhance the storage time.

Recently I have not been able to follow the updates, so I don't know the status of this feature.

Can somebody guide me if it has already been done, and if so since which firmware / software version.

Thanks,

Effan

Hi,

We're definitely going to do it, but it's indeed taking longer than I'd hoped. Sorry it is taking so long!

Thanks for the update Bill, sooner the better as I am a little stuck at the moment - my laptop is Linux so no way to download any data at the field, which gets in the way of recording a full day of flying.

It would be good to be able to save individual session KML's as well as an option (unless I have failed to find the option already there?)

At the moment the only way I can find around it is to save each session seperate, then load each seperate session and then save as a KML.

Cheers

Hi jiberjaber,

Re the laptop issue, I am not sure, but will either the latest Parallels or VMWare run on your linux box? If so, I think they both have the feature of running windows and linux simultaneously (or maybe I'm dreaming, and neither supports linux).

There is not currently an option to save separate sessions as KML, so your solution is the best one right now.

Do others want the "save session as KML" capability?

Sure - it would be handy to have the option.

Could be nice, I will in the future use it in small sessions as a "black box" unit then flying my paraglider, so it could be nice with that feature.

Also more loggingmemory or datacompression will be nice...
