Custom, don't worry about it! I live in Cub country. I've seen just about every imaginable cobination of J-3/PA-11/PA-18 parts bolted together & actualy fly. J-3's & PA-11's with flaps do exist. Here are a few pics of fairly stock Pipers for compairison.

I have two speeds fast and WFO

well all progress has been made. I took all of your suggestions and concocted my own version. I maidened her on sunday with an additional flight. during the second flight however my struts came loose from the bottom of the fuse. I broke one strut and the other is fine from the landing. i have come up with the solution just not fixed yet maybe tomorrow.
