New! Kalteisen SU-26 Foamy with CNC cut airfoil wing!

The SU 26 has 429 sq in of area and should be in the 15oz weight range ready to fly. 3cell 1000-1320 sized LiPo packs should be used with an Emax 2215, Torque 20T/1030, AXI 2212/26, Hacker 20-20L or similar motor.

The wing is not a flat plate wing. It's CNC cut foam and skinned with 1.5 mil Mylar. The fuselage and control surfaces are 6mil Depron. Simple and effective. Just what a foamy should be. The true, precision cut airfoil wing sets this apart from the traditional foamy. The wing gives precision flight and the ability to handle winds that ground flat plate wings.

The design is based on the dimensions of the Skeeter 36, but has more fuse area and the airfoil is about 1/2 the thickness of the Skeeter. It will fly a much more precise line than the Skeeter will, and this plane is about 4 oz's lighter than the Skeeter 36. Cool thing is you don't need to build and cover!

Video of the 3rd flight. I'm going out with brg34 at lunch to shoot some better video.

SU 26 Foamy (5 min 13 sec)

The ARF includes:
- CNC cut/mylar skinned foam wings
- Laser cut Depron fuselage and control surfaces
- Laser cut plywood motor mount and control horns
- Pre-bent wire pushrods
- Optional power pack includes motor, ESC and 4 HS-55 servos.
- Get it in plain white at the cheapest cost, or pre-painted for a little more.

Thanks guys.

Went out flying. Shot video, but nothing worth posting. brg34 is a better pilot than me, but even he had a hard time fighting the 15+mph winds. We are going out every day during lunch this week, so we will get a nice routine shot.

Today we'd get 1/2 a rolling harrier circle and then a gust that had to be near 17-20 would blow us out. Of course, the last 2 weeks were dead calm 24 hours-a-day and I did not have this in flying condition

I need to get a hat-cam built so I can shoot video of myself!!!!

With this plane, I really wanted to keep it simple. That's what foam is all about, right? The tail servos are just tacked in with hot glue. If you don't like that, use your favorite mounting method.

In the wing, just trace around the servo and cut out the foam just enough to let the servo get about flush. Put some masking tape on the servo and then a bit of hot glue and glue it in. Super simple. You could also just cover the servo with packing tape and call it good.

I already had some CF pushrods made up from a crashed Skeeter, so I reused them.

but i don't know, the airfoilz yak has a longer tail, so it's more precise, it's like comparing a pattern ship to an addiction

one is better at high speed aerobatics and one is better at ALL OUT 3D

Agreed. That's why I have the Katana coming out next month Wings are on my work bench. Precision aerobatics.
