Want an improved Moth? How about this one!

I own a TM and it is a fantastic plane even built stock. With some mods it's even better! However I see many post where people would like to have some more "umph", etc. In other words, a Better Moth. (I've done a search and haven't see anything about this one here so pardon me if it isn't "news" to you).

Sig has just come out with a new Jenny JN4 parkflyer the same size as the TM. However, it has plywood struts(!), wood-tone prop, a 180 size motor(!), is 4-channel with ailerons(!!!!), and only $59. Obivously this one isn't a trainer for beginners, but for all you TM people begging for a little more, this is it (this one or a Fatty Sparrow).

Their web site info is "in progress", but you can get more info and order it here:

I added it to my favorites list. I'll wait till they have them is stock, but I may need to pick one up. I like the idea of a biplane with ailerons.

from the tower page:

Landing Gear: (fixed wire, pre-formed aluminum)(optional retracts?)

I would recomend against entering the scale masters with the optional retracts on your Jenny!

I love Jenny's. Saw a beautiful specimen fly at Old Rhinebeck last summer, as well as a TigerMoth. The Jenny on tower's site will need many "scale" treatments as well. About 40 yards of flying , and another set of struts. It just doesn't look "Jenny" enough for me in the picture. Sig's Demoiselle looks pretty cool though. I like the full flying tail on that plane. I did see Rhinebeck's Demoiselle take a 10 foot hop down the runway... It looks so fragile. I guess back in the day Cole Palen flew it down the Hudson ! Brave man !

Goofup, there seems to be a mixup between Tower's info and SIG's. SIG says the Jenny will be a R/E/T plane (no retracts ), but looking at that pic with zero dihedral sure makes you wonder, though. -thumbs

Trampling out the vintage
In looking at the Tower info and the picture I'd be quite surprised if this has ailerons. The original Jennys were so underpowered however that ailerons on the model are not needed to imitate scale flight. This is different than the Moth, which could do some aerobatics.

It will take a lot of paint and details to make this model look like a Jenny.

I doubt it has ailerons too. Looks like the info from Tower was done on a template from another plane, and whoever entered it changed most of the info but forgot to delete ailerons, retracts, etc. But it still looks like a cool plane!

Now guys, I warned you that the Tower site was a work in progress (they say so on the page).

Yes, it says "2 channel". Obivously that's wrong because it also says:

Servos: 2 sub-micro ( -Aileron, -Elevator, -Throttle, -Rudder)
Y-Harness: qty. (For aileron servos)
Control Throws- High Rate Low Rate
Elevator: Up & Down / " ( mm) / " ( mm)
Rudder: Right to Left / " ( mm) / " ( mm)
Ailerons: Up & Down / " ( mm) - / " ( mm)

Note that some numbers are missing or incorrect, like the number of servos (should be 3) and control throw numbers. (I went to the Sig site and it's not listed yet, though some parts for a "Jenny" are.)

So either it does have ailerons... or it doesn't and that's "left over" info from another web page they did.

Either way it looks like a viable option for those who are wanting a souped up TM!
