FAA is the agency that would have to accept your CBO and in all likely hood the ground rules haven't even been written. I expect the NPRM will come first to define how they see the relationship.

Can you show me where it says that the FAA will be the one accepting CBOs?
They probably will be but, as you said, there are no rules about yet so we have
no idea other than guesses.

Update: Nine states looking to restrict UAV use, more coming

http://www.dronejournalismlab.org/po...t-uav-use-more

I don't mind the majority of these that limit police use or retention of video, but a few make the use of UAVs illegal for everyone including the general public.

I know you said it, but unless you are the new government czar that controls
the FAA I don't care what you say. I want to see where in the LAW that says it.

You should ask someone that remembers who first suggested AMA could be a CBO for amateur models.
A clue, it was not me.

AMA is the CBO for Amateur Models .. why is that an issue? You may not like it but they have been around for a very long time.

It might be not the CBO for FPV .. that's what I said many many times!

While we should certainly get our comments in, it looks like the scope
is quite narrow. They're looking for comments about privacy in the test area, which is
kind of odd, because I don't really envision UAV test areas as being in places
where privacy should be a huge concern, but who knows.

BTW, anyone else unable to reach the website listed in the document?

Yep, didn't work for me either. I also think it's strange that they are open for
comments about the new test sites yet there is no mention of where exactly
those test sites are.

Either they have not yet been determined or they are deep in Nevada desert far away from any populated area so the public can't claim it is being spied upon.

The test site selection has not occurred, and there could be a wide variety of locals, some way out in nowhere able to handle any size UAS, others near population and able to handle medium or even only small UAS.

'Climate Diversity' is one of the needs for the test sites, all in the desert is not going to happen, i think.
