AP Slowstick - Millennium RC: Slow Stick X
Finished this last Friday but went camping and didn't want to maiden it in an area I hadn't flown before. Tonight it was on/off rain and kinda windy but figured I'd sit on the field and give it a go if it got clear. It settled down to 5-10mph or so and I figured now or never so put it up twice with dummy camera and it flew great..one click of right aileron and we were flying level. Never took it off low rates and didn't need to
Put two flights on it as I was nervous about the tail gear, stock slow stick had to much bend so fabbed one up out of brass and I know it's a weak spot... The take offs are rough but the tail gear managed to handle a harrier type landing where it dropped right on the gear (5in or so, was kewl for a slow stick) and it made it. Threw the camera on for the third flight and although it was getting dark managed to get a few shots that are semi ok... still need to work on these camera settings... Plane Specs: PARF + CF fuse from Millennium RC Landing Gear, Tractor Mount for Motor, and Camera Mount: Askman Mounts Eflite Park 400 Ar6200 HXT 9g Servos (yeah hobbycity ones) + bluebird for camera tilt Thunderbird 36a 3s, 20c 1500mah Zippy Lipos Cannon A570IS w/uv lens filter - chdk trigger Can't wait for a clear sunny day now to see what it can do.. also have downlink for it but have to do more testing w/dummy before I'll try it. It's so fun when this works Thanks everyone for the borrowed tips/ideas and PM's pointing me in the right direction. This community rocks! |

Got out yesterday after work for a few shots. Was first time shooting a huge construction site and with the 15+ winds + low clouds it was hard to get the altitude I needed. For being as overcast as it was at times I'm glad the pics came out decent but not what I was after. I also tried a wide angle lens on the camera (2oz maybe?) and wow was it a challenge to fly. Definitely pushed the 3s 1500(20c) lipo so much that I'm going to try it again with a 1800/2200 (25c) lipo and see if it can handle the extra weight / motor demand. Anyway here's what I ended up with after two rushed (rain barreling in on me) flights...
I'm not the best with electrics and prop selection... if I'm using the 11x4.7SF now, what would I want to go to in order to achieve more thrust? Increase pitch or prop size itself? Thanks. |
