Sterling 63 Owners

I'd like to know who and how many people own a Sterling 63' Motor Yacht and where your located.
Please post a picture of your 63,a short history of it, a link to a build if you made one and your location. Please avoid any conversation so that we will have just the pics ect. per post. Send a PM to any poster if you have questions. This could be a big help to restorers in the future if it doesn't get all cluttered up with conversation..Thanks. Pete

Windward (Ray) Australia, Sterling kit Chris Craft 63' Motor Yacht. I was given the kit with the hull and cabin partly built. I have spent the last 10 months restoring and building the model. My thread on scale boats is

Guess I should put my 63 in here too. Back in 1996 I called Panam Distributors in Miami looking for one of these kits. They had none left and the Sterling company had been sold to Estes Rocket Company so I asked Panam where they had sold their last one. Turned out to be a hobby shop in Punta Gorda not too far up the road from me. I went there and bought the 63 for $120 and also saw the 42 Corvette there and the Missouri. Went back a week later and got the 42 Corvette and still have it unmade. The 63 was project enough for the time. I'm saving the 42 Corvette and the American Enterprise for when I get a new house with lots of building room in it.
So here's my 63 pictures. I took these off another thread so they won't enlarge. Gotta get that fixed.

I bought mine already built some 20 years ago , model was probably 20 years old, with aged cracked paint, missing hand rails. It had a Leisure 20 motor, an Astro 110 speed control with no reverse and two 8 cell packs of 1.2amp nicads, no other RC gear. I hollowed all the leadloy fittings and installed grain of wheat bulbs. I added Cirrus 7-channel radio gear for steering, a servo to operate a phase reversing toggle switch for reverse, and other servos and micro swithches to beep a bicycle horn, turn on and rotate the search light, and to turn on running, rear deck and interior lighting progressively using cams. I added venetian blinds, hand carved deck people, doll-house miniature accents, and deck furniture and hand rails made from mahogany model RR stock. Canvas skirt was made from plastic window shade material. I have a NIB original kit that I bought from a hobby shop in the late seventies, never got around to building it. May sand and repaint hull and cabin top, and uprade motor and motor batteries, when I get a "roun toit"

The decks are teak planked and the cabin made from 1/8th mahogany. Fittings were cast in plastic then chromed.

I've got one on the burner for a Winter project this year. Pretty poor condition, but almost all there. I'll get pics up as soon as I can. Located in Tehachapi, CA.
