New Product

3dHobbyshop.com 40" Edge 540

Announcing the new 3dhobbyshop.com 40" Edge 540

Quoted from Scott Stoops, Designer:

"Here's a shot of the little one. FWIW, number 18 is a scale scheme from a Red Bull airplane that can be seen on airliners.net (just different colors) Still tinkering with the schemes...

As far as components -

Carbon landing gear
Carbon wing tube
thumb screw wing attachment
10% airfoil
Single elevator servo
Aluminum axles and wheel collars(no screws for axles)
Slotted wheel pants for easy alignment
Hatch latch!
Prejoined elevator halves on the 40"
Huge battery tray to allow wide range of power options
Pre-built motor box (no jigsaw puzzle)

Best of all -they will include Ben's awesome customer support

Scott"

Quoted from Ben Fisher, owner 3DHS:

"It's a blast. These Edges have no wing rock upright (if you can keep from slapping the rudder around like a wild man), very little coupling in KE (an Edge will always have a bit), very nice pitch authority (approximately in the Extra SR range) and fly very light.

The 40" can be set up two ways:

light -

Torque 22T, Hacker A20-22L, etc. on 3S 1200-1500mah and 4 x HS-55

Powerful -

Park 480/A30-28S/Torque 2830-1095 on 3S 1700-2100 and 4 x HS-65
"

Available in 2 schemes as scene below.

Consider me pre-ordered for a red/black one. Perfect size for a couple of my local flying sites.

Thank, Zero. These are expected October-November.

Power systems we've tested:

Torque 2830-1095 + 11x5.5 + TP PL2100 3S
Reaper G25 + 11x5.5 + FP 1345 3S / 1500 3S
Park 480 + 11x5.5 + TP PL 2100
Torque 22T + 11x5.5 + FP 1345 3S

...they work just about like you'd figure. Pick one of the larger motors and a 1500-2100 pack for faster sport flying or windy days. Pick on of the smaller motors (we're especially pleased with the Reaper GR-25) and a 1300-1500 pack for a lighter feel on clamer days.

Looks like I'm going to have to decomission the Mini Ultra Stick for the power system and servos! Never thought thought that would happen.

HS55 servos, or will the HS65 MGs fit?

I'm going G25 and have a G35 coming for the Velox.

My garage literally looks like a small hobby shop right now - rows of NIB HS55 and HS65's..things are lookin' good.

One other servo to consider in planes this size is HS45HB - very fast and BB.
