Higgins HellKit

I feel somewhat of a fraud posting in "Scale boats" when the model can't be claimed to be more that a Stand-way-way-off tribute to the Higgins Hellcat.

Story so far: Glyn Guest (great man) followed up his series of successful PT boats with a Higgins Hellcat. Basically 24 inches hull, Balsa construction, photo attached. Since wthere seems to be sparse information on the Hellcat - only one photo, one prototype and no information about what happened to it after trials.

I was lent the mazgazine with the plan in it, liked the style but wanted a fast build. I have a styrene hull about 18 inches long built to test the high speed possibilities of homemade brushless motors and Voila - instant HellKit!

Even more semi-scale that Glyn's - mine is actually a perfect scale model of a hitherto unknown Higgins Prototype made by aeromodellers who worked for the firm in about 1943. It was trialled in the Aleutian islands - hence the white based disruptive color scheme.

Model launched today, and may get first canter tomorrow
