I want one! In fact, I'd like to put a tiny brushless in it to get some altitude.

Thanks Rider, got a link for those 1S servos?

sloperb, I tried a 7mm motor a couple times, either the thrust line was off or it just didnt have the oomph. Brushless would indeed be the way to go, a folding prop would be a nice touch too...

Could You give us a bit more info on the new setup? Does it have dihedral with that single aileron? Also, how thick was the balsa wing you started with before sanding and did you add anything to stiffen it? I might try and carve out a solid wing tonight

Oops, slow reply here, thanks for the link! It has very little dihedral in the wing, not sure how much, it was an TLAR job. I believe I used 1/8th inch balsa for the wing as well, no reinforcements, its pretty beefy. Only problem I've found so far is if its windy, the aileron will flutter on hard launches, but it still goes up straight and doesnt seem to lose much altitude, so I can live with it.

Heres a new video in some nice calm air, floating around was giving me pretty consistant flight times above what I was getting before (hitting 30 seconds regularly), the new aileron made simple aerobatics pretty fun - rolling circles are decending and slow, but cool to see.

Very cool, Nick, and the 30 second times are great. Throw in a little thermal or slope lift and you've got some all day fun!

my question is, when flying this plane or any other micro glider, how do you know when the battery is low? i would guess having a small motor inside to "listen" to would work right?

Thanks guys! The lipo lasts over a half hour, as thats about as long as I can throw the thing before my arm starts to get sore, I always check the voltage when I'm done just to make sure, but there's usually a fair amount of voltage left afterwards too. We're pretty much at the end of thermal season here, or at least my fingers get too cold to fly for too long...a living room glider would be fun...

Began with building and still looking for the plan

Hello

I am reading this thread since it began and yesterday i also began building .
I will build the wing out of 6mm depron(foam) and cover it with some tape and maybe also some rovings ..

Is there anybody who could give mi the plan from the plane from Ryan Archer?
I wrote him an pm but maybe he didnt recognized it ...
so if anybody has the plans -please send me an pm ..would love to build this plane..

regards
Markus

My brother (kpriddle) and I are also at the same spot! We started a build yesterday with 3/16" (4.7mm) wallfoam. My brother drew up plans the old fashioned way with pencil and paper. He used several pictures of Micro_Builder's Micro SAL for reference. We drew it for a 24" WS. It looks like it will be full house with the AR6400 brick and a 70mAh lipo. Still working on it...

Here's a link to plans for mine, similar to MicroBuilders and Ryans.
