Transport round-up at Warbirds Over Delaware

Transport. Various shots of the big heavy stuff (and one pip squeak by comparison). So much fun just to see on the ground let alone in the air!

Here's the gang, less the Connie that is featured further down in this blog. Let's kick it off with Carl Bachhuber's C-124A. This 200 inch span airframe is motivated by four Zenoah G45 motors turning 20x10 3-blade props...

Enjoy,
Steve

Seeing the C-124 brings back old memories. I was at Clark AB, in the Philippines, from 1966-1968. The 124's were frequent visitors. Seems like at least as often as not they would land with at least one engine out and when they were unloaded, they were carrying spare engines for 124's. Nevertheless, they did their part; but its a long slow flight across the Pacific Ocean in a 124.

Great photos and thanks for the memories.

Tony

I only saw one C-46 all the time that I was there and if memory serves, it was Taiwanese (Nationalist Chinese). The C-46 is really a neat looking airplane. Personally, I think that it has better lines than the C-47/DC-3.
