To be honest, my life in the states started out very very rough. But I had an Aunt and a Grandma that helped raised me while parents worked to no end.

My Aunt passed away a couple years ago at just 49 due to cancer. She was interviewd by a local magazine in 2005. You can read a little about it in the link. I am the oldest of the 5 nephews she was talking about.

I am thankful for all that has transpired, even though things have not always gone smoothly. And my family will always be indebted to the few that really help us when we first came to America. Yes, I feel very fortunate always.

Thank you Brian.

During the last couple months of her life, my wife and I, with our 1 daughter then stayed with her. We were really proud of her too. Her strength and composure the last few days of her life were unreal.

I was next to her side as she took her last breath.

I'll share one more detail before getting in trouble for going so far off topic. What my Aunt didn't tell the editor was her father (my grandfather) was killed somehow when she was just 9. No one knew for sure how he died. He was involve in the military fighting against the communist. They said he fell from a church belltower. To this day my grandmother does not really know what happen to her huband. .

All she did knew then was at 36, she is a widow, with 5 kids to raise and no source of income. My Grandmother, almost overnight went into poverty. She would end up also losing a son (my uncle) in the war.

Hence it was just my father, 2 uncles and this aunt that was left to make it in life. They all pitched in and made great sacrifices. When they were just about to see light at the end of the tunnel, they had to leave their country.

We all agree though, it was the best decision the family ever made.

Ok, no more sad storie from me.

Here's a picture to bring back on topic.

thanks for reading all!

Xplorer #3, Carbon Lite?

I am working at putting together Xplorer #3, orange/white and called a Carbon Lite.

It's all carbon, seems much stiffer and of course, pretty light.

Projected RTF AUW = 68oz,
Wing Loading then is just 8.4oz/ft^2

Here's the bare weight compared with my original X. Most notable weight savings is in the center panel and the fuse. I can tell that the flap wipers are lighter because there is less material used to make'em. Paint is thinner too.

And yes, I already cut pockets for RDS'ing the ailerons .

O/Wht Xplorer Carbon Lt
................grams ....oz
Fuselage ......419........ 14.78
Wing Center .569........ 20.07
Wing Tip L ....251 .........8.85
Wing Tip R ...251 ........8.85
Stab ..............45 ........1.59
Joiner 1 .........21 ........0.74
Joiner 2 .........22 ........0.78
Total .........1568.......55.31

1st Xplorer (green/red)
...............grams ....oz
Fuselage .......451 .....15.91
Wing Center ..626 ....22.08
Wing Tip L ....239 ......8.43
Wing Tip R ....243 .....8.57
Stab............... 48......1.69
Joiner 1 ..........22 ......0.78
Joiner 2 ..........22...... 0.78
Total ..........1651 ....58.24

sweet ! its nice to see that they are getting the carbon birds below 70 projected AUW - My standard x at 73 flies really light as it is. 68 would be amazing.

I was waiting for someone to get one of the carbon light versions. Post some pics of the scheme. Orange and white sounds cool. Can't wait to see it and hear your flight report. 68 oz is Tragi 801 territory!

Looks like someone isn't going to be very popular at the field You have plenty of extra winch line right?

Make sure you show us some pics when it comes in. They just keep getting bigger and bigger!

Here's some pics.

I noticed that the joiner boxes are now a closer fit to the joiners than in previous versions.

And you can tell from the wing skins that the paint isn't on too thick. I like it.
