Turbo Raven beta build

Hi gang!

My Turbo Raven is here, and what a beauty!

The kit goes together more like a jigsaw puzzle than a kit as everything is interlocking.

Here's an overview of the pre-release kit. Note that there is some hardware not shown here such as pushrods, wing bolts, wheels, gear legs, etc.

Here's a glimpse of the interlocking-ness typical here.

The fuse starts to take shape very quickly as well. Note that this is upside down. So far the wood has been very good quality and the interlocking pieces have fit perfectly.

Snap into place goes the fuselage side. The wood is a good size too. That helps with overall strength once complete and with the large lightening holes the overall plane will remain rather light. Plus, I'm less prone to breaking these thick pieces as I'm building

The forward formers are both light ply and like everything else are perfect fits into the keels and fuselage sides.

Here's where I'm at right now. Total work time to get to this point is around an hour to an hour and a half.

Now here's the kicker - everything you see in this pic is just friction fit. I have yet to touch my glue. No, that's not the correct method, but that's just how well this goes together! That includes the tail surfaces.

More to come!

Great pictures Martin! The entire time I was putting this kit together I was thinking "Wow Mike has set a standard to follow with this one." I agree it goes together like one of the 3d puzzles my wife is always building....hehe....Amazing!
I am hoping to have her covered this weekend, well at least the red anyway. And in the air early next week weather permitting.

If it flys as well as it builds and looks he has a big winner on his hands IMHO!

Haven't heard anything about this plane....

What is the plane 'supposed' to look like when finished -- who makes it and size, etc....

Check out this thread for background info on this design. Basically, it's a 300 sized scale aerobat. EPS-300 or equivalent brushless (Hacker, Mega, etc) for power.

Here's the full scale.

Oy,

Mine arrived today as well and is an hour away from having the frame completed! I am stoked by the quality of the wood, the cutting, and the parts. Mike should call his business "Mikes stoking kits" or something because that title definatly fits the product! Good work Mike! Pics are to follow once I receive my camera back......

BTW Heres a picture of what it should look like

Best Regards

Paul
