Star Wars B-Wing Fighter! - Design #2 today

Summer of Space design 2 for today =)

I had a lot of time sitting around doing nothing in the GM plant today (my machine is working great) So I started working on new Space designs.

This one I have been thinking about for a while. It is a real challenge i think. With the large verticals and short length i think it will be interesting.

I plan on mixing my seperate rudders to the ailerons with my computer radio. I "think" that the ring on the top will balance the extra long ventral wing.

Overall length is 40" with a 26" wingspan.

This one may be a bigger challenge than the Bird of Prey!

Wait until you see design #3

awsome!

how do you think it will fly with such a small wing in comparison to the size of the verticle area? looks like it could turn out very touch on the elevator axis.

you could also put a ducted fan in that pod on the top accep that might make it too unstable.

Define fly....

I build a silly little WIG testbed today and it flew...but I didn't want it to! The power to weight ratios of this style of building expand the possibilities, that is for certain.

I think SGT will need an additional channel for a parachute release to land this bird. That would be possible.

Keep your creativity going SGT,

I gotta see this one fly! Looks like not enough wing for the total size/weight.

Land? Spacecraft don't land!!!

Actually, i have a hay field that i usually land in so i just slow it down and drop it.

Genuine Power Wiseman will certainly say something about the frontal area i know. I actually think that the CG is going to be very close to the front of the wing so we shall see.

It sure looks cool though doesn't it?

SGT,
A funny thought just came to me. With all that vertical area, it looks like it could sail. Imagine an accelrated beam reach.

you could make the wings fold flat with a servo so when you land you don't risk breaking any wings off. you could also use a motor at each end to make it hover or come in for a verticle landing.

You just have to fly it high enough where Gravity is no longer a concern ...
