Will your cutter work with AutoCad or TurboCad drawings, or does everything need to be done in Sketch Up?

Looks great.

Any reason for such a large gap in the cuts?

Very cool! I can see a lot of people using this, especially kit builders. However about the plans if I payed $40+ dollars I would want a hard copy or at least a CD. I'm sure a lot of people who experience computer crashes or forget their passwords feel the same way. For about $20-$30 an electronic copy would be fine.

But I can't express how cool it is!

Well I am just blown away!!! What a great design. The possibilities are tremendous, I can see other foamie builders sharing the code for aircraft and they all have one of these Phlatprinters to turn out the aircraft. Have you tried to cut EPP yet? I really like the bipe...you should produce some kits to sell to others also.

Model airplane clubs could put one together and share the costs and still turn out LOTS of airplanes.

akmoose43 does everything need to be done in Sketch Up?

No as long as you can save as a dwg or a dxf you can load it into Sketchup and lay it on the cutting template your ready to apply the plugin to convert the part files into Phlatcode

ChrisFP reason for such a large gap in the cuts?

The gap I think you are referring to is the cut? The bit I use is 1/8" fishtail grout removal bit from Lowes. You could use a smaller bit. We are writing the plugin to compensate for that.

newblet27 I would want a hard copy

The plans are a part of the build, what I mean to say it that you spray the wood and attach the plans right to them and in turn they are a part of the final printer. You would get the plans in a tube 2'x3' and then follow the build log from there.

Ray I have not tried EPP yet but I suspect that it will work fine. The foam I was using in that last video (How it works) was all I had left from a really crappy stack of fan fold. It had more and deeper waves than any other fan fold I have had. But Depron on the other had works great, I only had a sample pack and now that is gone. I wanted to do that test of cutting two stacks at once of black and white and it exceeded my expectations.
After I had used it all up I had the idea to create a chess set out of foam
So I now if you tape two sheets of Depron together, and make one cut for each piece you get the entire board with both players and all the squares. Its pretty cool and I can't wait to get some more Depron to try it out.

Thank you all for the questions and great remarks.

OK....as soon as the plans are available I'm buying them. (Yes I voted in your poll) I love the rapid prototyping this will allow me to do....plus I hate cutting foam.....

When will the plans be available?

Iíll be an early adopter!!!!!!!
