GWS P-51 HELP..on Brushless setup

Hello all,
I am new to Parkflyers, been in Jet forum for a while.
saw backyard's last issue, had to have one.

now with that said,
I have a MiniAC 12 turn, and 16 turn
I want to put it on 10 HeCells,
turning the 4 blade prop..

which gearbox and where do I get one, mainly the pinions that fit the 2.3mm shaft?

Thanks in advance,

I have an ASTRO FLIGHT 010 (14T) with the GWS gearbox and geared to 3.75:1 for my GWS P-51D "TUSKEGEE" and the GWS ZERO, same motor with the GWS gearbox and geared to 5.33:1 and both fly fantastic.

Rob Mason and known the same here in this RCGROUPS have a GWS P-51D RED RENO RACER with an miniAC and he can give you all the details. I don't recall if he is using gearbox from the makers of miniAC or one from GWS? Rob is our Orlando Squad members and he has flown that RENO RACER and that plane just goes vertical and Wow, the speed....his eyes water, since he can't blink!

PM him !

I'm considering the Mini AC 16 and a Great Planes Electrifly T400 gearbox. I understand the Mini has Speed 400 spacing for the bolt holes and I've good experience with the Great Planes gearbox-it has nylon gears vs metal like in other offset gearboxes. The T400 has one version with a 34 tooth spur, which when paired with a 11 or 12 tooth pinion gives you high ratios for hotter brushless motors. This lets you use the 16 turn motor in an EDF unit like the Microfan (I plan on doing this with the GWS A-10) and then throw a high ratio gearbox on the motor and swing a big prop.

The Mini AC bolts pretty easily into the stock GWS gearbox. Less then 10 minutes of modifications that includes trimming of some plastic tabs on the GB and wrapping the motor with some tape to get a snug fit. The hardest part I had was locating the 2.5mm screws, but found some from Du-Bro. I imagine you are going to want to use the C or D gearbox. You can find GB parts at Do some searches on the Mini AC and Switchback or Mini Flash. Lots of info on exactly how to do it.

The 16T, on the next higher ratio from whatever is stock for the GWS motor, will be a good match for the existing prop and 10 cells.

Do a search on brushless Switchbacks for the gory details of how to adapt the motor to the gearbox, including boring out the pinion to be a press fit.
