The Great Flip-Flop Run-off Thread
Since "tis the season" . . . how about a thread listing any changes in positions on the issues for the two candidates.
For fairness, lets start with these rules. 1. Only one flip-flop per post. 2. When one candidates flip-flop is posed, the next post must be one from the opponent. No "two in a row". 3. On Nov. 7th at 11:59 pm EST this debate will end. 4. Provide quotes from the candidates to make your point. Who wants to start? |

Obama is proud to be an American.
EDIT: Thanks for the heads up on rule #4. Since quoting others is not my forte, I leave it to you. |

OK, here's an Obama flip . . .
"My patriotism speaks for itself. The truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for, I think, true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security. I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest. Instead I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe what will make this country great and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism." Obama, October 3, 2007. "I have never said that I don't wear flag pins or refuse to wear flag pins. This is the kind of manufactured issue that our politics has become obsessed with and, once again, distracts us from what should be my job when I'm commander-in-chief, which is going to be figuring out how we get our troops out of Iraq and how we actually make our economy better for the American people." Obama, April 15, 2008 Coming soon, a McCain flip. |

Here's a single flip flop, per rule #1.
I can't say however, which candidate said it. Rick |

OK, a McCain Flipper . . .
“In the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade.” McCain, August 1999. "I don’t think a constitutional amendment is probably going to take place, but I do believe that it’s very likely or possible that the Supreme Court should — could overturn Roe v. Wade, which would then return these decisions to the states, which I support…. Just as I believe that the issue of gay marriage should be decided by the states, so do I believe that we would be better off by having Roe v. Wade return to the states." McCain, November 2006. Obama's next one is . . . |
