New fish on the block....

Hey guys

A friend and I have been working on a new fish type aerobat, we hope to kit it at some point.

Heres a rough and ready video we got whilst testing the other day, the KE coupling is mainly down to a loose tail, we've tested these things hard and it was starting to show on this airframe.

Team Monkey (2 min 30 sec)

Once we're dialed in on these things and get the design finalised we'll get a proper promo vid going

Some feedback would be great...

cheers

Steve

UPDATE 17/02/09

S46 News

After much testing we've concluded that the optimum AUW for a Swinger 46 is 350-450grams... you can push it to 500grams but it will start to struggle (particularly knife edge).

New Video

Heres a new vid of us busting some grooves with a Swinger 46 and the new Swinger 60 in light wind conditions.

Team Monkey S46 & S60 Grooving in light winds... (2 min 43 sec)

UPDATE 14/01/09

I thought I'd add all the vids we've done so far so new comers to the thread can see more than just the first vid we did.... which is not the best for sure

Swinger 46 vid that came second in the slope aerobatics competition.

Swinger 46 Slope Comp 08 (2 min 48 sec)

A very nice vid done by Cliffhanger.

Team Monkey 48" Swinger slope glider (3 min 1 sec)

Cool vid of two Swinger 46's busting some grooves in light air... a one off Swinger 22 also makes an appearance

Swinger 46's at St Agnes (4 min 6 sec)

Early testing

Team Monkey Swinger 48 Release Version (3 min 44 sec)

Team Monkey Swinger Testing at Mickeys (Bwlch) Wales (3 min 53 sec)

Team Monkey Swinger Release Version (2 min 50 sec)

UPDATE

If you havent been following this thread we've decided to release the plans and build techniques of the Swinger for non commercial use.

We decided we're in this hobby for the love of it not to make money so wanted to give something back to the community.

Turn to page 4 if you want to know more about plan detail and build techniques etc...

If you come up with anyway of improving this design please give us feedback and we'll incorporate it into the plan... if anyone wants to do an online build that would be cool also.

Heres the plans... enjoy

yet another update... theres now a 48" version.... plans below...

Now at v4 of the swinger 36, the fin and rudder has been made a little larger on the bottom.... learning points from the 48 version.

Part done Swinger instructions... instructions

I'm the over excited pilot as you can see from the start of the vid

She rolls and snaps so cleanly that close in stuff has never been so easy! KE is hands off when the tail is not wobbly (carbon rod splint now added).

KE loops are almost possible with this model!

If it can-it will!

LOL- Brilliant 'specially the standing still knife edges!

How about some details- wing span, wing loading, airfoil, construction.

What was the wind speed?

Great for VTPR, probably of interest to many of us into this kind of flying, esp. folks like Dawson H, and Steve L.

We're keeping details close to our chests for the time being, once we're closer to releasing it we'll give ya more.

The wind speed that day was 13mph I think...

Looking forward to it! Good to see some enterprising UK flyers using their skills.

Good luck- hope it's a "go'er"- I'm in for one!

I'll say its 250g, 36" wing span and has a fully symmetrical section. It also runs on lipo for the RX It flies in 5mph to 30mph with no worries.

Hi Robert, we're finalising the design and the kits will follow soon we hope, the idea of this video was to see if there is any interest in what we're doing. Feedback has been good so far... thanks.

I wouldnt like to commnet on cost just yet, it certainly wont break the bank tho.

Weather permiting we're hoping to get another more polished video together next week.
