Yeah, I've seen a few of these. I imagine they might be a bear to fly. Top heavy I presume.

They can also be found at www.flyingthingz.com along with some other strange creations.

The lawnmower is on Exp 1or 2 for Real Flight. Yeah if its anything like the one in the sim it does not fly well at all. Well atleast I don't like it.

Actually, I've flown the lawnmower, and it flies very well. It just floats around, and seems to like a bit of wind really well.

Just be sure to tie the controll tubes down, or else they will flex, and give you a TON of slop. Looks pretty cool though, and makes you want to say "Look ma! No hands!".

thanx

About the lawnmowing version. I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to make, but there wont be flight. Or a tiny weed eater engine or something.

Lol, it mows lawns, just drive it through tall grass, then once you're done, takeoff and cruise around

Such things as flying lawn mowers and flying stop signs are novelty aircraft. They are designed for only one reason--for fun. Every show team has at least one. They are definitly crowd pleasers.

They are not designed to impress R/C pilots. They are designed and flown for the impact they have on crowds at fly-ins and the like. Remember most spectators at such events usually have no knowledge of R/C. Novelty aircraft are for their benefit---and they work.

How true this statement is. Talking about my planes once with my mothers boy friend and he brought up a R/C airshow he went to. What he remembered the most was the flying lawn mower I asked him about the other planes that were there and I just got a big I don't know.

Guess I need a novelty plane to add to my hanger.

I was part of an AMA show team for about 20 years. My primary function was spokesperson for the group.
Aside from my r/c interest I also have a deep interest in aviation history. As a result my mind is full of useless information about airplanes. I also had some experience speaking to large groups so I wasn't put off by a microphone. So I was drafted.
Our team used a flying car and a flying smiley face as our novelty planes. After our shows I was often asked about what we flew and the majority of the questions were about our novelty planes. So I know how the crowd reacted to them.
