Had another fly of my bird today. It always gives me a buzz, Still need to programme in some more expo on the elevator as it is sensative and being short coupled makes loops very tight. Strangely enough it scares the sea eagles away when I try and fly with them.

I'm putting my 52" Marston Ptrerodactyl by PteroWorks up for sale. It is a complete UNSTARTED kit, with Hacker motors and ESC's, the Hi-Tec servos Ron suggests, props, linkages and a roll of purple moncoat. $425 shipped. I will be posting it in the for sale section as soon as I get pictures of everything.

Spektrum DX7 Settings

I have my Pterodactyl ready to go, and the maiden flight went great given that I didn't have the ruddervators programmed properly! I had them set up to mirror the ailerons...oops! It was a little "touchy" but still looked great and survived my mistake.

I am not sure how to program my DX7 for this aircraft--I can get the ruddervators complementing the ailerons, and I can get them acting like an elevator, but I can't get them to do both at the same time. For those with the Dx7, what are your settings to make all of this work?

Thanks for your help----the Pterodactyl must fly!

Congratulations on the maiden flight flimnar.

I no longer have a DX 7 so can't help with your question.
If you don't get an answer here promptly I'd revomend starting a thread in the Radios Forum .

When you are first configuring the DX-7 for this model, set it up for V-tail - ON. See page 39 in the manual.

Making the job easier--

Thanks--I think I was expecting more of my programming than I actually have to do. I was trying to tie the ruddervators to the ailerons---why make it difficult!

I had trouble setting up the dx7 for v tail first time as well. Glad you got it working.

If it flies, I will crash it

If you really want to have them work together just get your v-tail and ailerons working properly then setup a mix for your aileron channel to your rudder channel. Simple to do, a pain to adjust. In the end you may be right, why complicate things.

Well, got the LEDs installed in one wing of my Ptero this evening. I'm doing blue in the outboard panel of one wing, white in the center panels of both wings, and then probably green or yellow in the outboard of the other wing. Unfortunately, they didn't have red in stock when I placed my order.

Broken Bird

A warning to all. DON'T TAKE YOUR EYE OF YOUR BIRD ! it has consequences.
And it also pays to keep it close as you lose orientation really quickly. My bird is in need of a rest before it will get repaired as it is not a 5 minute fix.
I love flying the Pterodactyl and it has a great presence in the sky. Congratulations to those building and flying, it is worth the effort.
