band-pass, high-pass, low-pass, notch???

How do I stabilize the inputs from a joystick?

I wired up a custom
joystick(http://www.soldcentralfl.com/flyingpenguin/rcstick.htm) for use
with FMS (http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html)
which has an internal joystick calibration function.

Ok, sorry. The switches and pots in the controller are wired directly to the
game port. With windows calibration utility the primary x/y axes jitter. In
FMS all four channels jitter.

This is causing a bit of unstable flight in FMS that I find highly annoying.

If anyone can assist me with this I surly would appreciate it.

oops, all the pots are 100k and 3 of them are audio trim and the 4th is a
linerar trim.

It might not be your pots or switches but rather your game port or PC
assuming you tried all variations in settings. The pots don't jitter on
their own.

How much jitter do you see with the windows utility. Some will be present.
Check the voltage at the pots (best done with a Oscope).

Loost to me like alot. as if one where lightly bumping around the top end of
the stick.

Voltages are; 4.62, 4.17, 4.68, and 4.62.

I don't own an Oscope. Let alone use one:-)

Oh should I have not used telephone termanal wire inside the controller?
i.e. solid core cppper and one other metal, not to mention any other
electrical properties it's hiding from me.

Using the Windows XP calibration, I see movement of two units at center with
my Dave Brown old controller. (665 -667 x axis; 533-535 y axis). My meter
is way out of calibration so can not help there. Voltage looks a little low
though.
