Boomer-I just got mine today and got started. Three sheets of nicely cut depron parts and all the bits needed. Lots of cf rod! Looks like it will be a nice kit to build.

Looking forward to the kit. Your video answers my question about flying in some wind. What is the highest wind you have flown it in? boomer |

Sounds good! If there appears to be any interest maybe I'll do a build thread with pics. boomer |

Interest here, intertest here!! My kit is paid for and on the way, so if you decide to do a build thread I'll be all ears & eyeballs. I'll probably go with a blue wonder from Lazertyz, what about you Boomer? |

Boomer,
I've flown the Twirl in winds up to 15mph, and it coped fine. But it's much more fun in lower winds, with less chance of it being blown over when on the ground. BTW, Ron has posted a new movie on his site. Modesty prevents me saying any more....... Hope this helps, Al |

Watched the movie yesterday and kit also arrived yesterday and I have cut the parts loose from the sheets and read through the build manual a couple of times. BTW I printed out the pics you posted of the completed plane in 8-1/2 X 11 size. Makes the build a lot simpler when you can see the finished plane. Since this will be a something to do build I will be taking my time. I think I will do my decorating before I assemble the parts. boomer |

Boomer,
I also do most if not all of the decoration before I build. I hope it's not too late, but if you want to do the black/white decoration of the rotor blades (or any other combination you prefer) I found it very easy and quick to do with the blades left in their sheet of depron. I just drew lines across the whole sheet where I wanted the black to be, and then filled them in for each blade. Wait for it to dry and then do the same on the other side. I coloured the "yin and yan" top rotor discs inside the holes to make it look nicer as well before assembly. I'm glad the photos are useful, I'm sure that you will find it an enjoyable build. Cheers, Al |

Since the instructions are very good and using Al Foote's Pics for finished detail checking I didn't do a build thread. Made a couple of mods. Used flat carbon for tail skid and installed 2 carbon rod stiffiners on rear of fuse to stop the twisting. Only added a few grams but I'm happier with the result. Not sure how the wheels will stand up but can easily replace with Mpi wheels if they don't. Waiting on Azarr Micro antenna and Deans Micro connectors to finish plane. More later.............. Here are some pics of the plane. Comments welcome.

Boomer,
That was quick work Red and white is my favourite combination. Just one small observation - you have the rotors such that the left one will turn counter-clockwise and the right one clockwise. I tried this in early development flights of the prototype Twirls, and they flew fine, but I found that the handling and performance was, subjectively, better with the left one going clockwise and the right one counter-clockwise. But it's simple to change them over anyway. I hope that your components arrive soon. By the way, the motor that Ron provides in the combo will produce about 12 ounces of thrust at full throttle - I don't think that I have used more than 3/4 throttle in any of the movies I posted. I look forward to hearing how the first flight goes. Al |

Nice work, Boomer. I was going to do the exact same thing you did with the tail skid.

Al-I just want to be sure I have it right. The rotor slopes down towards the leading edge-correct? It looks like that in all the various pics I've seen.
