How come Tower Hobbies doesn't stock Goldberg models?

Hi

Not sure if this is the right forum but I was curious to know why Tower Hobbies doesn't stock any Carls Goldberg Models? Didn't they used to before?

CGM changed their distribution scheme and Tower did not like the new rules so they dropped the line.

actualy goldberg went direct and you can only get airplains from them
the hobby shop I work at has no proublems getting a goldberg model
it is my speculation with horizion getting the rights to distribute oaracover that the company is on the way out
it was real hard to get anything from them for the last 4 months
their diecutting and wood quality are not as nice as almost everyone elses and by going direct I think they shot themselves in the foot

Are there any reputable hobby shops that carry Goldberg models?

russ6421-

Tower Hobbies is like Top 40 radio; derivative and uncreative. But then so are most people in society (it seems). Tower is not a niche-market company, it is after the 'middle ground' of radio control...not selling too many toy-store grade items, and not too many Proctor-type kits either. Until they start actively preventing us from purchasing items which they do not sell, from other vendors, what do we care? Even if you don't like ARF's, they still have about a million other items that even the most dedicated scratch builder can use at good prices. Why am I going on about this? Oh, yeah, 'cause I don't want to do the homework that I'm behind on...

You can go to www.hobbytown.com and actually chose which shop to buy from. I know my local one carries CG pruducts so I am sure you will find their kits at the others. JT

I see I'm not the only one concerned about the Tower/Hobbico/ Great Planes/Omnimodels group. Thought I was seeing things. If CGM does spin in, it would be a large loss. Hope they live long and prosper

Goldberg is being squeezed by Great Planes/Towers just as they did it to Top Flite and Coverite and so many others. Great Planes looks upon the modeller as having an addiction and as such they feel they can overcharge with impunity. They want to be the only game in town. Every product that has been absorbed into their line has increased dramatically in price.

Tower sells what people buy. Curse them all you like, but they have succeeded by running their business LIKE a business and listening to their customers.

Be careful of characterizing opinion as "immutable truth".

I hope that is not true! If it is then I need to start buying a few CG planes before they run out.

At my LHS Great Planes is reffered to as
"Great Pains" . That is thier experience
in regard to getting an order CORRECT and
ON TIME.

IMHO, Hobbico is low end Chinese made junk.
and Great Pains, while having a majority of
good slimer arf and kits they have had thier
share of trend following crap kits (The Phantom Jet and Eagle Jet) fake jet kits.
I have observed to be real dogs.

Oh and Jim Ryan,
When can I get a kit of your models from the
Tower/Great/Hobbico hobby machine? I'm sure
they will be able to make a close replica to
be made in CHina and sold in the US at a better price than what you charge for your
plans!
