Say goodbye to 3M 77 for foam covering

I thought I'd try a new technique on a cheapy $4 glider conversion. I HATE the 3M 77 fumes, and overspray. So I tried a light coating of water base contact cement. Using a foam brush, I spread it as thin as I could. A light coating dries in a few minutes. I added strapping tape and then painted the cement over the tape.

I covered it in Ultracoat and it seems to hold tight, taking foam with it if you try to lift heated covering.

So far so good. It really seems to adhere well. I think it is good as the smelly 3M 77.

For me, "so long 3M 77!"

Anyone else try this? Or is my judgement impared from smelling 3M 77 fumes too long?!

I'll post covered pics soon.
