The E-Zone hits its target in Rochester Show

The E-Zone got some great PR in yesterdays Memorial Airshow in Rochester, NY.

Since it was an IC show, the only e-plane worth registering was my Kyosho Flash. It was the only electric pattern ship at the show and boy did it get some attention!

When registeriing a plane, you fill out information for the PA announcer to read when you are flying. I filled in "The E-Zone On-line Electric Flight Club" for my club affilliation and "a $24 Endoplasma car motor" in the 'powered by' section.

Since the announcer started playing up this ship as electric in front of a big crowd, I decided to pass the stick to my IC pro buddy at the last minute and become the spotter. It was a great move because he made the Flash dance and I got the credit! He did every maneuver except for a torque roll (which it can't do) and made it look easy.

The PA announcer said, "It's hard to believe that ship is electric...there must be some mistake here because it says that it is powered by a $24 car motor!"

I just grinned and thought...thanks, E-Zone.

Nice one.

I missed seeing you there. I flew my Electro Streak a couple of times and Wayne (forgot his last name)and his wife were there flying their e powered planes (4*40, citabria and Sig LT). Glad to hear you got some e-promotion from the announcer.

Jim: How about adding a downloadable banner file to the E-zone, so we can print E-Zone banners?

Thanks guys.

After the R/C dinner when the show was over and ALL the electrics came out with only a couple glow planes, I flew my 6' Super Zagi which has the full E-Zone logo on the bottom in color. That turned a few heads also. My other P450T Zagi "Americana" was easily the fastest in the group. I even got to see my first "taped" Zagis...YUK!

I'm sorry I missed meeting you.
My E-Zone t-shirt was covered by another shirt due to the cold weather. It was actually Lynn B. that flew the Flash for me. Heck, I was talking to Ken Braun for almost an hour before we realized who each other was. I ate dinner with Wayne and his wife.

It was funny because when you registered a plane to fly (which was free), you got a free pass for dinner and a free gallon of glow fuel. It was sitting next to my Flash in the pits so everyone thought it was an IC plane until the announcer said it was electric. I gave the gallon of fuel to my buddy. I don't need it...yet...

Great show Greg - shows while we might not be able to "beat" them (whatever that means), we can hold our heads up in mixed company.

Maybe if we got out to play with the other kids more often ?

At the CASA Spring Sizzle, the one class of electric model that was lacking was the "pathetic excuse that couldn't", so we now have the talent and capability to get out there and showcase e-flight as well as Greg did.

You're right about the Sizzle...there were lots and lots of able-boddied e-planes flying. It's very exciting to see what can be done right now and get some glimpses into where e-flight is headed!

Big thanks to you and Sue for putting a great fun-fly together. Now next year see if you can get us two days of sunny weather instead of just one!

BTW, the sustained, level aileron rolls are coming along nicely. And the Embat may fly next weekend.

I also saw you fly, nice job. Did you see the electric paraglider fly? I'm a beginner and it looked like nice slow easy fun. I was suprised it could fly with the wind blowing. Never seen anything like it.
