Why the poll?

What ever the plane needs plus whatever the tilt and pan needs if I have such a thing on that particular plane.

None of my planes are the same. I can get by with AET on one and need 2AERT plus tilt and pan on another. This is like asking "What plane are you flying?" to which the answer is several.

2x Spoilerons
1x Rudder
1x Elevator
1x Throttle
1x Copilot
1x DragonOSD
2x Camera Pan/tilt

With a 9303 on a EZ Glider

I am going to remove the tilt sevo on my next setup though.

I would have said 8, but that wasn't an option for some reason.

1 Aileron
2 Elevator
3 Throttle
4 Rudder
5 Camera pan
6 Camera tilt
7 Co-pilot control (or other function such as camera switch)
8 DragonOSD control

Just to get an idea how many channels most need but also how many are required for the most elaborate setups.

I don't care if you have retracts, flaps, airbrake,,,whatever,,, I just want to know how many you need.

Cheers,
Spud.

Buy as many channels as you can afford!

That way, if you want to add something later it won't mean buying a new radio. I got a nearly new Futaba 9CAP on Ebay for $177...

It basically is the way PPM vs PCM is encoded when you do the research into it.

Wow! I've been watching Ebay and the cheapest one I've seen so far was $279 plus $50 to ship it to me (which was ridiculous for shipping)

I've been watching 7cap's but I can already see from the poll that 7 channels will not be enough in the end.

I agree with you TV Dude. I just want to get a feeling for how many is likely to be enough. I want everything but my budget does not agree.

Cheers,
Spud.

Okay then,

I have two 9 channel Futabas. One is a heli radio which I got for the smooth, non-ratchet throttle.

My most flown ship is (as I keep babbling) my pico Tiger Moth, with fixed camera, stuck either in the rear cockpit or under the bottom wing.

I want to make a small plane of some sort with a rudder channel pan camera. Head tracking is nice, but simplicity wins out for me.

My most complex plane is my ASK 28 sailplane with two channels for the ailerons, rudder, elevator, spoilers, tow release and retract gear, plus the picolario on a three position switch. I guess that's eight channels. No FPV, the canopy is not clear and I am not sticking my video gear where the tow line might cost me a small fortune.

So if you added a FPV setup you would be pushing 12?

Pan, tilt, autopilot and,,,,,something else. ( I don't know what a Picolario is.)
