Took advantage of Newt's ideas and put the grands to work converting my totaled T-28 to a tail dragger. Not bad work but now I'm out of cookies and milk

hi all. beginner here with 4 months of experience on a cub and sensei. i was told by a guy at the lhs that for the t-28, he strongly recommends a radio that has expo rates. he said linear is not advisable. is this true? do beginners tyically use expo rates while starting on the t-28?

I started ou on a SC also. When I got my T-28 I flew it with the same 4 ch radio that came with my SC. I used the low throw setting, and the plane and I got along fine. I have a new radio now that allows expo, and it is nice, but I think you can fly the Trojan okay without it.

Just remember, the Trojan is faster than the SC and it responds to commands quicker than the SC.

YES!

Expo is a great way to ease into full capabilities of a model. Go with 60% on ailerons and 40% on elevators and 15% on rudder for ground steering, IMHO.

thanks guys.

@wvrailfan - good to know since i have that radio too and low rates may be a reasonable proxy.
