Had a blast in howling winds this weekend. Added a rudder to ramp it up, .5 ounce more RTF. Dropped the prop to a 6X4, perfect! Had to fiddle with the motor's side thrust angle.

New setup..................

Tried an APC 7X3.8 SF prop on 2S Gens Ace 520s and shed the extra half ounce. (9.8 amps / 77 watts in) AMAZING. Better than before. A tiny loss of speed at WOT, but the same ballistic vertical. Now with the extra thrust and bigger diameter prop it's the best of both worlds, mild to wild, as it now flies super slow.

Was out today flying in the wind on the side of a mountain and had a blast flying down below myself and shooting up the ridge for touch n' goes off the tall grass on the edge of the ledge.

Only had one retrieval.

Beautiful day here today, so off to the slope. Thought I'd see what the SD would do. I was actually able to kill the throttle and keep it up, the lift was that good.

Well, until .....................

Simple Delta with Hobby King Orange gyro Greg006 end cuts off (6 min 1 sec)

This plane of course does not need a gyro but I stuck one on anyway to mess with gains. It was ok but I didn't really see a benefit enough to keep it.

Someone call "Combat" Frank? It's just a flesh wound but the ASW tail doesn't look too good. My flying buddy snapped the tail off of his in a less than perfect arrival so would probably benefit by some carbon strips up each side

Seems everything we launch out is combat fodder around here.

Here's my 'Sort of Simple Delta' hacked out from my Quasar.

Amazing is all I can say, knife edges, prop hangs, flies everything a 3D is expected to do and loves being flown in the wind, even backwards.

Or............... can cruse around like a trainer.

Looks like you were having fun in the wind. Next to a pure sloper, the SD is the next best thing in the wind.
