I had a chance to get out early this morning and shoot a short little video of my LB with lights in the dark. I shot this with one of the #16 HD cameras I purchased...these little cameras are very cool.

Ladybird Lights 2 (0 min 44 sec)

I'm in the process of building a little adjustable angle carbon fiber camera mount for my Hoten-X...then some aerial HD video.

It's great to be back here and enjoying this great hobby again.

Regards,
John

You bet!

I'm going with 8-Ultra Bright 3mm Water Clear LED's, 2 Red-(Port), 2 Green-(Starboard), 2 Blue-(Aft) and 2 White-(Forward). This sucker should be visible from a LONG way off.

John

Looks good , John.
The Hoten has enough lift, you could incorporate a sequencer ...or is that already part of the plan? I'm usually a few steps behind....

Bill

Hi all,

Bill, I thought about a sequence for the lights on the Hoten but after flying it a bit I think blinking or flashing lights would be very distracting for me while flying. My main reason for wanting to install lights is so I can take some night video.

Speaking of video, I finished the CF adjustable angle camera mount for the 808 #16 HD Key Camera and thought I'd post a few pics.

It's a two piece unit, a base to mount to the Hoten's battery tray and the adjustable angle camera plate the uses a product called "Power Grip" to attach the camera to the angle plate. Power Grip uses mushroomed shaped posts to interlock and produce a very positive grip unlike velcro which uses a hook and loop system. I tapped some brass tubing to receive a couple of 2mm button head machine screws for the adjusting of the camera angle and I used a 1mm CF rod and 3mm square CF tube to create a hinge. The 1mm CF rod is a press fit into the mounting base so it won't budge during flight. I sandwiched some thin CF sheet to create a curved surface on the camera angle plate to match the surface of the #16 HD Key Camera so there would be maximum contact of the Power Grip on both surfaces.

I tried to keep it simple yet as strong as possible.

The weight of the camera mount including the Hoten battery tray as shown is 35.53 grams and the total weight including the #16 HD camera with a D lens comes in at 55.10 grams.

Waiting for the electronics for my Hoten to return so I can test everything out, but that's another story.

Hope everyone's doing well.

Regards,
John

Hi all,
Sheesh....I thought I was keeping up a little better.
@ John
A sequencer would be cool, but as you mentioned, very distracting. You gonna see if you can utilize the Hoten for inspection and site selection for work or are you still?

Jason,
I hope you haven't moved...

Hey Richard,
You doing OK?

We're hanging in there. Things are looking up a little financially. Not buying new helis "up"...but...

Bill

was watching commercial, and they were showing someone carving a turkey using an electric carving knife....
call me old fashioned

but, if you need a power tool to cut the bird, it ain't done...

Hi all,

Yes Merry Christmas everyone!

Bill, I'm still waiting on the ESC and RX for my Hoten but that's OK as I've been able to spend some time working on a Light Kit for the Ladybird. It's an 8-0805 SMD LED set using my LDCCD for power and weighs only 1.38 grams. I'm waiting for MK to confirm his mailing address so I can send a set to him for testing and evaluation.

Regards,
John

Hi John,
Nice light set. Better do a range check. You'll be able to see that farther at night than in the day.

Richard,
Nice wide open area. You have to share it? Some smooth flying.

regards,
Bill
