I gave up FPV'ing today. Spent a couple hours at Art Dye doing tests on the new antenna tracker, then went with Scott up to the local foothills to fly. The wind was pretty bad, and not much fun to fly in so we only did one flight and went home.

Sad day. Gorgeous outside if it weren't for the wind.

Tomorrow & Monday are supposed to get a lot worse.

I would have been tempted to fly if I had something a little more robust. It was gorgeous out, figures the day that we all were looking forward to flying it was windy. I still think we should plan a day to get together.

Yeah, I was a bit bummed. Sadly, as I went outside to watch sunset, the air died down to almost nothing. Pfft. By the time I got to the hills and set up the sun would be down.

It's gonna get really windy Monday & Tuesday, twice as bad as today actually, so looks like it'll be next weekend probably before I can get back out.

Probably need to get out and winterize the yard, we're only a few weeks from sleet & snow!

Nice work! Where did you fly? Where did you end up getting your video gear?

I went out to 5 mile pass out past eagle mountain.

I got the gear from readymaderc. They shipped fast and everything went together smooth. I just need to order a converter to connect to a pc monitor, I had to drag my 42" tv out lol.

I'm still trying to find a good spot in Salt Lake. I went up to the Air Park on south mountain. It looks promising. Seems like a good vantage point. There were a couple of DLG pilots up there but pretty empty otherwise.

Anybody have any secret spots they want to give up?

There's always out west near bakus highway, but that's magna area. Lots of open space.

I'm going to try butterfield canyon before they close the road for the winter.

Sweet! I thought about heading out there today but ended up taking a quick flight out at the baseball diamonds inbetween eagle mountain city center and the ranches. Should have told me and I would have met ya out there! I would have loved to see that thing fly! Nice wing!

When I used to live in West Jordan, I used to fly off of the west side of 7800S. I'll attach a map.

Yeah it was kind of a last minute thing and didn't know if we were even going to fly or just go off roading because of the weather.

We'll have to try next weekend for sure! But I gotta get a smaller tv.

Is there anyway to connect rca to a pc monitor?

Heres a video from saturday at the flying field in farmington. Non fpv, just doing some testing first with the deep reaper. Had fun flying through the trees.

Farmington field (5 min 45 sec)

FPV video is uploading now.

Here it is, my first FPV flight. Excuse the shaky plane, it was pretty windy out, but I couldnt resist getting some FPV time in.

It was pretty strange the first time. It reminded me of the first time I went snorkeling. You know you can breathe but you want to come up for air. But I started getting real comfortable at the end. Cant wait to get more!

They make RCA to VGA or DVI adapters depending on what your monitor requires.

Just an example...

Congrats on your first FPV flight! Looks like it went really well! Flying in terrain is so much more fun than flying out in the flats...like I was today....BLAH.
