I got it balanced Ihavawdy, it took about a ton to bring it in.
Note to self; lengthen nose when lengthening the tail. There is about a 1\4 thick layer of lead shot under the battery pack also......sheesh |

Its only cold and wet here...
IHAVA, thats some wind! it'd take a proper sloping O3 like yours to enjoy that healthy blow, my thermalling O3 would be struggling gaining headway in wind above 25 knots, it'll do 20 knots ok. Joe, just saw Joe's Mega OlyIII, thats something else man, I should have known! - wonder how it will stack up against the Grand Esprits for windy days. S3014 foil? |

If I used the marbles in my head I would have used it though, the S3014 proves it's greatness on my Osprey and Falcon 880 on a regular basis. I have not finished the covering yet, still need to sand the control surfaces to shape and cover. The fuselage needs to be shaped and painted. In other words I let the cat out of the bag a little early. I do need to get it done and fly it to decide if I will use this monokote/balsa overcast or one of the other monokote/balsa overcast I have for RES at the NATs. Joe |

I'm so impressed with the S3014 in the wind. Such a pleasure to fly ballasted, and the large flaps make high wind landing so tame. Slows way down on final approach with zero tipstall...

Great looking Olly Joe. It makes me wanna build a monster Sagitta. Thou I may try a different airfoil than the Eppler 205. I already have more than enuff balsa. I just happened to be around when Hobbyland was closing their doors. I was stocking up on a few sizes that were needed when Wendy said "Why don't you just buy the whole lot?", so I did. She made me an amazing deal. I only wish I had room in the house for it all. I guess I better get busy making gliders out out of this stuff or just one really BIG one.

Haven't been on in a couple of days. Just getting caught up and saw Thermaler's 150" Oly (III? I notice the shoulder-mount wings).
That is nice. Color me impressed. Nightowl (who is not named Joe or Steve) |

Help yourself man, I think it may be awhile before I'm generating balsa dust. You know some of my build schedule and it don't include alot of balsa (note big pile of Hiload 60 in photo). Well, I do wanna get on to the Knight Twister at some point.
